Not sure that answered my question though. :sssh: Records don't necessarily tell who the better pitcher is. It has a lot to do with the teams you face, how your own team does on a particular day (both offensively and defensively), whether you are a starter/reliever, and sometimes just plain dumb luck. I don't recall seeing Teegraden pitch, but I did see the other three and, as of last year, I would absolutely say Deno was the better pitcher.

Will he be their #1 or Deno? I like the way Deno pitches. Nothing overpowering, but he's a fine example of why you don't need to have a blazing fastball to be successful.

 

The way Deno pitches kind of reminds me of Donavan from Ryle in the same aspect as neither are over powering. Seems like the 33rd will have some tough pitchers this year. Deno, Laumann, etc. from Boone, Daisuke, Hempel (sp?) and Donavan at Ryle, and Russel, Samad, Hubbard, and West at Conner. There will be some tough district match ups.

From what I have heard he had been attending workouts until today (due to the KY/TN Border Bowl). So that would most likely be a yes.

IMO if he plays he will definately be their #1. He didnt play last year due to an injury I think. Im almost certain anyone that has seen this kid pitch would agree with me on him being the Ace of the staff this season. I think it'll be

Donovan will be the #1 heading into the season. He earned it after his season last year, which was flat out impressive. His district championship win against Conner was lights out. I'm not sure how much pitching time Lonkard will be given. He didn't pitch an inning last season and he's the heart of the OF, so I suspect given the overall depth on this team, he might not pitch all that much. Two other names you have left off and could/should very likely be in the top five are Andy Rogers and Tyler Hill. There is absolutely no question Ryle has some legitimate depth at pitching this year. My question is whether one (or hopefully more) will step up and turn out to be a shutdown-type pitcher, the kind you occasionally need to win a 2-1 or 1-0 game against top-flite competition.

I forgot about them two. The only reason I said Lonkard is because he pitched alot this summer. He did very well. I think the shutdown pitcher will be Chris Hensley. He's been pitching every Sunday with Bluegrass and is getting better and better every weekend. His velocity is great and his off speed is better than its ever been.

Yes, and for the life of me his name escapes me right now. I don't think he'll start out as one of the top 5/6 pitchers, however, as the season progresses one never knows what will happen.

Looking over the schedule for Boone, they will need three #1's and two #2's. WOW!!

Haven't seen their schedule, but however tough a regular season schedule they put together will only make them (and the pitchers) that much more ready for district play and (possibly) regional play - where apparently one stud pitcher might be able to win you the whole thing. :irked:

 

Same strategy that Ryle - and no doubt other schools - has used for years. Play the toughest schedule you can - maybe take a few lumps along the way - but you're battle-tested for the post-season. :thumb:

The left hander was either Tyler O'bryan or Matt Gorbant. The b oth pitched well last year but I heard that O'Bryan was hurting by the end of the season.

Gorbandt was the one I was thinking of. I beleive he ended the JV season as 1 and 1a pitcher of the staff with Hill.

Walton Verona had a kid last year who's last name was Cotterell? He got hurt, anyone heard if he is ready to play?
