Bluegrasspreps.com, the leader for Kentucky high school sports news and discussion, has released the following 4A rankings for October 13, 2009.

1. Boyle County vs. West Jessamine

2. Bell County at Madison Southern

3. Lexington Catholic vs. East Jessamine

4. Lone Oak at Hopkins County Central

5. Allen County-Scottsville vs. Logan County

6. Western vs. Breckinridge County

7. Marion County at LaRue County

8. Valley at 5A Jeffersontown

9. Franklin-Simpson vs. Warren East

10. Holmes at Scott

It's good to see Holmes in the top 10. Hope they can stay up there.

I was taking a look at some of the undefeated's in 4A. There are currently 5 teams left undefeated in 4A with that being Allen County-Scottsville, Boyle County, Lawerence County, Lone Oak and West Jessamine. Two of those are not currently ranked in the top 10(Lawerence County and West Jessamine). West Jessamine goes on to take on Boyle County for their first real good test of the season as Lawerence County will try to prove itself against Rowan County. Now, Rowan County is a darn good team and definitely no push over. If Lawerence County wins, do they get into the top 10? I know they have played a weak schedule but how good is this Lawerence County team? :confused:

Lex. cath is ranked higher than Lone Oak despite losing to Lone Oak head-to-head...someone please explain this one to me. :confused:

I kind of questioned that myself. Last week Lone Oak was #3, but Lexington Catholic played #1 Boyle close so I’m assuming that is why they jumped Lone Oak.

My guess is that it was the Boyle game plus that LexCath lost by 3 in OT on the road. And not just on the road in a short sense. Lexington to Paducah is no short trip.

 

That said, I tend to think that Lone Oak should be ahead at this point.

I would guess Lex Caths overall schedule is alot tougher, too, with teams like St X, Cov Cath, LCA, Lone Oak, Boyle Co...Besides the Lex Cath win, Lone Oaks next best win at home against 2a Green Co..

The entire body of work must be taken into consideration.

 

Clearly, the teams were evenly matched when they played several weeks ago.

I agree on the top ten,but one. I think Bell Co. should be No.1 and Boyle 2.

Bell Co are the defending Champions and until someone knocks them off,they should stay as No.1.JMO
