Raceland 14 Fairview 6

A nice and needed win for our RAMS. The DEFENSE did a great job again last night. For the sixth game in a row they gave up no more then 19 points. And in the last two games the D has given up a total of six points. If and when we ever get our offense going we will be a very good team. Even the pass defense looked ok last night. Even though Fairview dropped four or five passes. I know the game was played on a sloppy field. But where is our passing game? We really need it. We have to have it to open up the running game. Most teams are the other way around. But we rely on the short out in the flat passing game so much. And if it's not clicking we seem to be in a lot of trouble. We only had one drive all night where we moved the ball down the field and scored. I think it was about a 75 yard drive. We threw about four completed passes in a row and it opened up the running game a little. Then we went right back to the little out in the flat passes. It was a nice drive. Then everything went back to normal. Incomplete passes, offside and motion penalties. They all kept killing the offense. I would love to see more passes to Barr on that post pattern they run last night. Barr was open all night. They connected on one and Barr extended out on a dead run and hulled it in for a nice big gain. I think we only tried it one other time and it went way over Barr's head. And we never went back to it. Barr has great hands. He needs to be in the running and passing game a little more I think. But it looks like he is still having some trouble with his leg. Our short out passes is to get our backs in a one on one with the D. But we have to complete 95% of them for it to work . So many are coming up short and hitting the grass in front of them. It's a wasted down. Lets go offense you need to catch up to the way the DEFENSE is playing. You need to practice hard. The coaches will have a good game plan. But you must move the ball up and down the field to let some of the pressure off of the DEFENSE. Thats what makes the RAM DEFENSE so special this year. Even if the offense isn't controling the time of position. The defense even with all the pressure put on them still do a outstanding job. In the last six game the DEFENSE is only giving up 10.5ppg. And in district play 8.0ppg. What would it look like if we could control the ball and not go three and out four out of five times. Any way it was a GREAT win. And a much needed win.

Good; I really liked the defensive play in this game. Cody Grant, Rocky Jobe, Michael Litteral, Cody Kelly among several others had one of the best defensive games I have ever seen them play. It's amazing what happens when you actually come out excited and show emmotion. It carries everyone else around you in a domino effect. Gang tackling was great as well. We had 7and 8 orange jerseys flying to the football all night long! Another thing I really liked was Farleys punting last night. He put several of them inside the 10 a couple inside the 5! I'm not sure exact number but I'd say Fairview only got across the 50 maybe two or three times. Raceland also won the turnover battle as well. I believe Fairview had 3 and Raceland had 1.

Bad; Not scoring when inside the orangezone I wish I knew the exact conversions vs. attempts this season. We have had problems with it all season it seems. Another is 3rd and 4th down conversions. Once again i'm not sure about the exact numbers here. But I know we did go 3 and out almost the entire 1st half. And didn't convert on a couple of big 4th downs maybe more. One bieng 4th and 8 late in the game to help seal the victory. STUPID PENALITIES! How many times did we jump offsides last night? I lost count after 5 in the first half. That's one thing that is just mental discipline. You know the snap count, and Raceland doesn't produce enough noise to make it hard to hear. So STAY FOCUSED!

Congrats on the win rams! My prediction was pretty close. Really glad to see this team grind one out and pull through some adversity. Keep playing hard and putting the team first. Also congrats to Coach Hoof and the rest of the staff.

Here it is. I found it.

I wonder how athos83 feels now.

LRCW, athos83 is from Greenup. Please don't count him as a Ram fan.

Hey RF04, do you realize the majority of our stupid penalities (offsides) were on our skill guys? Last night, we had 2 on receivers and 1 on Burchett on our next to last possession. We had one on the OL immediately after a 3rd down timeout! We have to continue to improve on the offensive side. If we play the next 2 games on offense like we did last night and we will be in trouble.

Now, how 'bout that Ram defense?! The boys were a lot more focused prior to the game and played with a lot emotion. One coach asked me what I thought about it and I just laughed and said, "I guess we are about to find out?" I was so proud to watch how we got after the ball carrier and rushed the passer and how active our DB's were going after the ball. I can't brag on the "D" enough.

Congrats to the Rams on a big district win. Nice to see so many Raceland folks at the Georgetown/KCU game this afternoon. Especially little Ram and his dad, who must now stand on a ladder to look the youngster in the eye.

After talking to some that were at this game I have to sa that I am most pleased with the reports of how this Rams defense is paying, especially how they are hitting people. What I was told was that Raceland wa really hitting last night. That (hitting) is one thing that has set Raceland apart from alot of schools. Raceland imo has a long standing name for a team that may get beat but will out hit anyone they play. That imo has been missing at times this season.

GO RAMS!!

Keep pouring on the ORANGE CRUSH Defense!!!

Good to see mcpapa and mcmoma as well. The Raceland fans came out to see Raceland grads Robbie Logan (Georgetown) and Clint Thompson (Kentucky Christian University), good to see those young men playing.

The only thing that would have made it better is if mcdaughter was singing the National Anthem.

Little Ram, isn't little anymore.

I was reallly looking forward to this game, but unfortunately my sickness kept me away. I could have been at the stadium in 2 minutes. How did McDavid do today?

I believe McDavid had a touchdown today. There is a thread about it in the college football section.

He a couple receptions, one for a TD. He looks like he has gotten quite bigger since high school.

I spoke to him after the game to congratulate him on the TD. He may not be as tall as advertised, but he ain't built like a basketball player anymore.

How does one go about finding the playoff setups for other classes? (I've already hijacked the thread once, may as well make it a twofer).

Good job Raceland. I picked them to win. They sure do play hard from the way that everyone talks on here. Good luck this week.:thumb:

Congratulations to the Rams on the win.:thumb:
