Beechwood owes Mayfield hardcore Snake. Until a few years ago Beechwood has never beaten Danville or Mayfield. They ended the streak against Danville in the title game now they need to end it against Mayfield. I hope it happens this year because as you and I both know that will put either team in the title game. What about the Comets Snake don't they return a lot this year or did they lose a lot after getting beat bye Beechwood in the semis last year?

I think you are right on the money. I like how you broke it down into three groups. I really don't know about Mayfield. They have such a weak schedule. Two of the teams are 0-7, one of the teams is 1-6 and out of the last three teams only one has a winning record at 4-2. The other two teams are 3-4. I wouldn't mind playing that schedule every year.

Some of the teams Mayfield has played are not as good as usual. Graves is a solid team and Tilghman had plenty of talent. Mayfield did play play Trousdale Co Tenn. who were ranked Number 1 and defending state champs in 1A. Our district is not great with some teams but CC is ranked 3rd. I think someone like westsider who usually is very knowledgeable and unbiased might be able to give a prespective on the Cards.

I am a fan of playing a tough schedule no doubt, but some people get too bent out of shape about it. Mayfield could have played all winless teams and it wouldn't take away the fact that they have talented players. Beechwood can play a steamroller schedule and it doesnt mean they don;t have talented players.

I really don't think that it much matters how they are ranked in the top 10 or 15. The rankings are really just for the fans. And for judging somewhat of where teams stackup. Anyone of the teams ranked in the top 15 could beat anyone on any given night. And I would also say that most years the best team doesn't win the state championship. Maybe if we had a system where you could lose a game you could go into a losers bracket. I believe in sports every team has a bad game. And if you have it at the right night you lose it all. Because there is no second chances. With it being one and out alot of times the best doesn't win. We always have upsets. In some cases you could win nine out of ten but if you lose that one it's all over. In baseball and basketball you play three out of four. Or five out of seven. That way there is no doubt. Thats why I wish we would do away with these first round games. When the 1st place team plays a team that has only 2 or three wins. It's crazy. I don't think any team that has had a really bad season and was in last place would feel that they deserved to go play a LCA or Mayfield. Its just a game you know you can't win and you may even get one or two of your star players hurt.

But you are used to cruising and being way ahead. And all of a sudden you are in a dog fight. It could and will be trouble.

I"ll put it this way, Trousdale Co would likely beat every every 1a team in Ky by a bunch, with maybe an exception to LCA and if they didn't win against them it would be a dogfight..This past week they beat an undfeated and traditional power Friendship Christian team 23-7 that had been averaging 47 pts a game and only given up 15 all year...Graves Co is not a great 6a team, but, again, they would be no worse than a 5th or 6th best team in 1a... Pad Tilghman, as bad as there record is, I wonder how many 1a teams would beat the teams that beat them(Hopkinsville, Ft Campbell, Mayfield, Graves Co)Again, they would be a solid Top 8 team in 1a...Calloway Co is a yr removed from a Final 4 4A run and yes, they're down this year, but, would still be a Top 10 1a team, without a doubt...Yes, Marshall Co is winless, but, still a 6a team with alot of #s...They've been a very solid program just having a couple of bad yrs with a coaching change and some turmoil going on...Also, they played the #3 ranked 2a team out of Tn (Milan)in a scrimmage game that I would bet the farm would be ranked #1 in Ky 1A this year and possibly even 2a and 3a, they're that good...My point is, you are basing everything on the record that Mayfields opponents have and automatically assume they've played a weak schedule...And this year, the teams that are usually very tough teams are down like Tilghman, Marshall and Calloway, but, yr in and yr out, I'd put Mayfields schedule against any of the 1a teams and would fare pretty well...They also play Crittenden and Caldwell Co to end the season which will definately prepare them even more before the playoffs get here, so, don't worry about how prepared they'll be for a tough game, they've been there and done that and know what its all about when playoff time rolls around...
