Waverly’s D1 QB must have had an off night. I give the Tomcat D credit for that. I sure wouldn’t trade QBs with Waverly. Sam does a great job. I can’t wait to see the stats in the morning paper.

 

Alber had another good night – what a warrior. He delivered a vicious block for Sam that sprung a first down late in the game – what a hit. Rogers (#25) looked very good too.

 

Trent Hardy had some great tackles - I see you out there #74.

If Ashland needs any motivation to get ready for Johnson Central, just remember the Golden Eagles have outscored them 143-46 over the past 3 years. Johnson Central certainly hasn't been shy about running up the score when they've had the better team.

It is scary to think of how much talent the Tomcats will have for the next three years! Every player in the secondary is a sophomore, along with the QB, a couple of WR/RB's and several linemen.

If Ashland needs any motivation to get ready for Johnson Central, just remember the Golden Eagles have outscored them 143-46 over the past 3 years. Johnson Central certainly hasn't been shy about running up the score when they've had the better team.

Last year was 41-6, and KHSAA stats have seven different players carrying the football (and only two passes being thrown the whole game). 2007 is really the only one that might be considered by some "running up"; it was 67-33, in a game where both teams had to keep the starters in late because neither team could stop the other. In 2006, the games were 35-7 and 28-21.

The Tomcats jumped out to a quick 22-0 1st quarter lead, and never looked back. Big show down in two weeks against Johnson Central. Will the Tomcats make Ram look good, or will Leatherneck get the last word? Stay tuned folks. It should be a good one.

And our coaches keep having to find and train new linemen. Because starters Ben Stringer (Sr) and Kyle Wessel (Jr) are both out with season ending knee injuries. I didn’t know Wessel was out for the season until last night - but, he is.

 

So, two new linemen have had to step up to take their place. C. J. Suttles (Jr) 6’1” 225 lbs and R. J. Johnson (Jr) 6’1” 220 lbs answered the call last night. They joined Nik Kosakowski (Sr), Proc Robinson (Sr) and Trent Hardy (Jr) on the O-line.

Sounds like Ashland is set for next year, too. This season might "kick off" a good run of years for Ashland football.

 

Are they going to continue in the same district for the foreseeable future or are they supposed to change soon? It seems like I recall a discussion on here last year how Ashland might move to another district at some point.
