Ryle 2009/2010

Featured Replies

No offense, but I highly doubt the 8th graders are really being recruited by D1's. Going to someones camp and getting a tour of the campus doesn't really count.

There were also 4 more Ryle girls that were told they had "D1" talent.

(they each quit over the past couple years)

So, a total of 8 girls with "D1" talent!

Wow!

That's a lot for one team! LOL!

Guess this info came from your RELIABLE source as well. Difference in you and your sources rumors and others opinions is:

1. That point guard that you consistently hammered on this public forum

about not being able to play and about Ryle not having a point guard

has accepted a full ride to D1 Morehead St. and she is only a Jr. Might

want to keep your day job.

2. The 3 8th graders that were brought up and played over upperclassmen

that raised so many questions each have D1 letters in hand and have been

on unofficial visits. These 3 are currently 2 Fresh/ and 1 Soph and will

only get better with time. Point made that these girls are believed to

be talented by people that actually matter.

3. 20 of Ryles players are Fresh/Soph. Fact is they are very young and talented and 3-4 years to have a chance to win a championship

Will the talented 8th graders mentioned play varsity?

1. a.) She's not their point guard.

b.) Earlier, you said she gave a "Verbal commitment".

Now you say she "has accepted a full ride".

2. If the 2 Fresh and 1 Soph "will only get better with time".... wouldn't you expect the Junior to get better with time, too?

If so, then why give a verbal to Morehead now?

Why not wait and see if you get another offer?

3. "Championship"?

What kind of "Championship" are you talking about?

If Ryle really does have all this "D1" talent on the floor....

(and all that "D1" talent in the stands)

I guess it's reasonable to have great expectations.

Should be exciting!

!

What else would she have done? She can't sign. This isn't unusual.

Congrats to Abby Jump and her family! Morehead State is a great school and they really take care of their athletes!!!

1. She most definately ran the point for Ryle last season. Would consider

her a Combo Guard. When the other talented G was in the game she rotated

at the shooting guard slot.

2. Need to touch up on your recruiting rules. Can only verbal now. Her

senior year during the early signing period will sign that full-ride. Why wait

when you get the offer from the school you want to go to? Then again

you woudn't understand that because you have never been in that situation

probably.

3. I would think every team's and player's goal is a District, Regional, and State championship.

4. Any girl who has quit a team and sitting in the stands somewhere is not a

D1 player. Takes alot more than talent to play college basketball.

They are now Freshman and a Sophmore and are Varsity players.

1. Well, obviously you can believe anything you want to believe!

2. I agree.

If she always wanted to go to Morehead State.... then this is great news for her.

3. Good Luck!

4. Google the name "Delle Donne"! LOL!

I know of 4 different girls (that quit in the last couple years) that were each told they shouldn't quit because they have "D1" talent! LOL!

Believe what you want to believe!

We're each entitled to do that!

Have fun!

And, Good luck!

5. Jr. Abby Jump has become Ryle's first D1 player. Verbal commitment

to Morehead St. University in Sept. Another player Coach played

as a Freshman over upperclassmen. Sure she heard complaints over that

one too.

I'm somewhat familiar with the player and attended some MSU games. I truly wish her the best of luck, but I have to admit, I am completely and utterly shocked.

Abby Jump can flat shoot the ball. A team always needs players who can stretch the defense. Morehead is a good school, close to home and I hope she has a great career there - congrats.

Most teams are extremely lucky to have 1-2 D1 talents on their team. So, I have to highly doubt that any team has 4-8 on their team.

I do not get the connection.

Are you saying that the girls who quit are going to be playing D1?

Because Donne never quit her team in high school and then got a D1 offer. She never actually quit her team in college. She is going to play basketball this year for UDel. I think she left to play volleyball one year knowing she was going to play basketball the following year. Because even if she would have wanted to play immediately at Delaware she would have not been able to because she signed a letter of intent with UCONN. I think she just did not want to leave home.

Ryle will see where they stand next weekend when they get a dose of Marion County. I understand that Marion is more than likely going to be less two starters, so if you can stay within 10 of Marion less two starters you may be ok. :thumb:

But in the Christmas tournament at Lexington Catholic Marion will be at full strength, so you will get the full effect like alot of other pretenders.

I sense some disdain for the Ryle girl's team in some of the entries. I'm rather new to this but I thought it was supposed to be a positive situation. There seems to be a lot of speculation about whether some of the girls are real D1 players. Remember, the colleges contact them, they can't help who wants to talk to them. It seems people should be happy for kids in this situation. It just disappoints me somewhat that some adults find comfort in being negative about some high school kids who are only trying to play hard and have fun. It seems to be a little personal for some of you.
