Ryle 2009/2010

Featured Replies

I sense some disdain for the Ryle girl's team in some of the entries. I'm rather new to this but I thought it was supposed to be a positive situation. There seems to be a lot of speculation about whether some of the girls are real D1 players. Remember, the colleges contact them, they can't help who wants to talk to them. It seems people should be happy for kids in this situation. It just disappoints me somewhat that some adults find comfort in being negative about some high school kids who are only trying to play hard and have fun. It seems to be a little personal for some of you.

It really is one poster who has issues with Ryle and all of NKY girls basketball.

Good point. I didn't mean to lump everyone together. I apologize. I do wonder though where the bitterness comes from. I don't really see how the one poster can get his/her happiness from making these young girls feel inferior if they don't play well. It baffles me. I really don't understand why the positive isn't stressed. They're just kids.

For the record, D1 coaches cannot contact high school players until their junior year. I would guess grade schoolers would be exempt from this rule???

Beginning thier Freshman year they can send them questionairres and contact the coach though.

This is true. They could also have contact with these coaches at the campuses.

I have not seen MSU's women's bball team play, but Jump can flat out shoot. I would think she could play at that level.

Word is that Morehead State was/is not the only D1 interested in Abby.

Knew what they were doing in getting her so early.

Saw the scrimmage today against Louisville Butler. Ryle looked

very conditioned, strong, and athletic. At one time Ryle was

leading 51-19 late into the game. Ended up winning by 27 I think.

I missed their scrimmage today but I heard they were "Lights Out" winning by 30 over a highly ranked team. They will be fun to watch. Their schedule is brutal but it will help them by the time March rolls around. Lots of pure talent, but from what I've seen , lots of team camraderie. I can't wait for the season to start.

From what I understand that was a big problem last year. A whole lot of me..me..me.. that went on.

5. Jr. Abby Jump has become Ryle's first D1 player. Verbal commitment

to Morehead St. University in Sept. Another player Coach played

as a Freshman over upperclassmen. Sure she heard complaints over that

one too.

I'm somewhat familiar with the player and attended some MSU games. I truly wish her the best of luck, but I have to admit, I am completely and utterly shocked.

She's a tough competitor with a great jumper and great floor awareness, why does that shock you?:confused:

Not really, I know that some of the Senior parents weren't happy with the lack of playing time for their daughters but that is on any team in any area of the country. The young ladies really do like each other and play team basketball.

Size and quickness are the things that come to mind for me along with the ability to create her own shot.

I think it is great that she is going on to play college and better yet go to college for free.

Congratulations!!!:thumb:

8th Grade girls being recruited at any level, much less D1? Incredible!! Girl's basketball in Northern Kentucky sure has changed.

It sure has changed, and all for the better. I am a convert. I love the girls game, it reminds me of the boys game played in the 1970's. These girls today are tough, hardnosed basketball players who train year round.

That is good to hear because that is what I was referring to.

BTW is it possible that the best coach in the Ryle system is their freshman coach?
