Ryle 2009/2010

I have heard that bringing up younger girls is what has caused the problem. Jr. and Sr. girls apparently were not happy that 8th grade girls were brought up. They are not willing to put the time in when 8th grade girls that are well connected to the program play ahead of them.

Were these "well connected" 8th graders better than the upperclassman?

I heard they only have 11 girls combined for JV/Varsity. Can anyone confirm? How can that be with a school that size? Doesn't seem like enough when you factor in injuries, etc.... they could always bring up Freshman for numbers but it seems like a better idea when it's for talent reason.

I heard (from a very reliable source) that this is true.

Ryle has 11 girls (COMBINED) for JV/Varsity.

I also heard they had 6 girls come out for the Freshman team.

When did Moss leave??

It's my understanding that she quit the team late in the season after joining late. She started this school year at Boone Co.

Truth from within the program:

1. 23 players in program.

2. 14 players strictly J.V./Varsity.

3. 11 Freshman- 2 Varsity.

4. Word has it that each of the 8th graders brought up are all being

recruited by D1 schools and have even been on unofficial visits.

Obviously, basketball minds other than the coaches at Ryle think these

girls are players.

5. Jr. Abby Jump has become Ryle's first D1 player. Verbal commitment

to Morehead St. University in Sept. Another player Coach played

as a Freshman over upperclassmen. Sure she heard complaints over that

one too.

6. Ryle returns top 8 players from last years squad. 2 Fr, 3 Soph, 2 Jr. 1Sr.

4 Jr.s and 1 Sr. who played J.V. and very little varsity did not return

to the team.

With Crittenden, that would be 4 D1 players on one team. Can't see how any team in the 9th can compete against that. Anything short of a state championship would have to be considered a failure with that kind of talent.

Pressure is on to produce lots of titles.

Just think if Moss would have stayed I guess they would have been starting 5 D1 players.

Three words "Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemistry". There just might not be enough Basketball's to go around for all that talent. Can 3 head coaches keep them all focused? if so, it can be special.

Will they be better than Boone this year?

WOW! With that many D1 players on one team it sounds like this years girls state championship trophy will be coming to Union, KY. How did Nel Fookes let all those D1 players get away from her program? I'm not sure when the last time a northern Ky girls basketball team has won a state championship?

There were also 4 more Ryle girls that were told they had "D1" talent.

(they each quit over the past couple years)

So, a total of 8 girls with "D1" talent!

Wow!

That's a lot for one team! LOL!

8th Grade girls being recruited at any level, much less D1? Incredible!! Girl's basketball in Northern Kentucky sure has changed.
