September 15, 200917 yr Author  What is that dude holding in his left hand? A rag, a sponge or a honey bun?
September 15, 200917 yr San Diego's defenders dropped about the same amount of passes as Russell's receivers. Maybe he just doesn't throw a catchable ball...should I add that to the list of why he's not an NFL QB?:sssh: Or he has a couple of Rookie WRs who have rock hands? Its the first game of the season people and its hard to pass judgement right away because hardly anybody has played a full game just yet until now. I think we will have a more accurate desciption and grasp of where he as a Quarterback in a few more weeks.
September 15, 200917 yr I'm going to add one to the list... The Bengals defense will keep them in virtually every game this year. Now how many of those they win is another story.
September 15, 200917 yr Either the Bucs are a whole lot better than I thought, on offense (450 total yardage), or Dallas is in trouble defensively.

September 15, 200917 yr Author Looks like a cookie. Well, it's obviously supposed to be a cookie, but it looks more like a honey bun to me. I'd never eat in the shower. :idunno::lol:
September 15, 200917 yr 5. Too bad, Tom Cable has the impossible task of making an NFL quarterback out of JaMarcus Russell. That was the difference in the game. San Diego has a QB and Oakland doesn't. 13. Are the Chargers really going to limit a healthy LT (one of the best RB's in NFL history) to 13 carries and about 50% of the offensive snaps? Really? I don't like it. At all. Sproles is good, but I don't think he warrants the snaps he got last night if Tomlinson is 100%. Russell has struggled, and it looks like he is still way off in his development or that he may not ever get there at all. There was so much buzz about him coming out of LSU with his rocket arm, but that does you no good when you can't get it together between the ears. Giving him the benefit of the doubt he doesn't have a ton of skill guys to get the ball to and I'm sure this would make him look some better, but either way he's just not a franchise QB and far from it. And to think they dropped Jeff Garcia a couple of weeks ago. Way to go Al, you lose again. I guess the Chargers must still have Michael Turner on the brain. He was way under utilized when he was in San Diego, and I guess they don't want the same thing to happen with Sproles. I agree with you that LT should be the man and they should go through him about as much as they did in the past. However, they need to give Sproles some touches too, and who knows if he gets to run the ball a little bit he may opt to stay with them instead of leaving via free agency. Two good running backs are always better than one, even if the one back is LT. I like Sproles a lot though, he's got such a quick burst, great field vision and very shifty. He and LT should make a great tandum this season if both of them are used right. It may take a few more games before they find the right equalibrium for the two, but they definitely won't do what they done with Michael Turner again, and that is basically nothing.

I think 65/35 would be a reasonable split. I think they'd be smart to cut LT's workload, but not that much. Apparently, LT had a minor ankle sprain last night. Perhaps the Chargers wanted to play it safe and make sure he stays healthy for the long haul. Regardless of how much they like Sproles, I know they'd rather ride him for the last quarter and a half in the season opener at Oakland, instead of pushing LT to a more severe injury, meaning they'd have to rely on Sproles to carry too much of a load week after week, or they'd have a hobbled back like last year. I do not expect to see LT on the sideline as much as he was last night. As for Russell, go back to his college days. Look at the talent he had around him and look at his numbers, especially in the big games against teams like Florida, Auburn, etc. Yes, his numbers were good in college, but in all three years that he played he had Dwayne Bowe, Buster Davis and Early Doucet at WR. Three guys that are currently in the NFL. And, in two of those seasons he had Skyler Green who was a very good college football player. In addition, he had Joseph Addai for two seasons and Jacob Hester for all three. He should have put up not just good numbers, but astronomical numbers. And, he shouldn't have been average to bad against the best teams. With a great line as LSU typically has, and certainly had during Russell's time, and a slew of skill players around him that are all playing in the NFL right now... JaMarcus Russell should thank those guy and give them a percentage of his paychecks, because they made him the #1 pick. Without them, he's a mid to late round flyer based on his raw physical gifts. Well, those guys and two other things...Al Davis and an overrated Notre Dame team in a BCS bowl game to make him look like a world beater. The perfect storm converged to make Russell a #1 overall pick, when in fact, he should have been picked on day two as a long term project. Those LSU teams he played on were absolutely loaded. I always felt like he was the biggest weakness they had. I couldn't believe he skyrocketed up the draft board based largely on one great game against Notre Dame. :idunno:
September 16, 200917 yr LT was hurt last night. Bucs have one of the best Olines in football and 3 capable backs. Shaun Hill isn't flashy but he's a winner...look up his NFL wins/losses. Brees for President!
September 16, 200917 yr 1. Last night's win over Buffalo was the perfect game for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Sure, it wasn't the performance they wanted or that was expected. But, in the season opener, Brady found his rhythm and showed that this passing offense is going to be just like '07. And, more importantly, he lead them back from 11 down with 5:32 to play. That's what Brady is known for and that's what the Patriots will need. To put it simply, he showed he's still Tom Brady, and he's Tom Brady in Week One...they don't have to wait a few weeks for him to get back in full swing. I think it was huge to get a vintage comeback from Brady in the first game of the season. Agree, but they were extremely lucky. 2. Mark Sanchez doesn't look like a rookie. Have the Jets discovered a new blueprint? Put together a good offensive line, then trade up and get the franchise QB you want. I agree and I thought he would be very successful this year. I think he made the right decision turning pro. :D:D 3. How lucky are the Packers? They get a decade plus of Brett Favre and smoothly transition into Aaron Rodgers. Agree for the most part. Still think Rodgers has some things to prove. 4. Kudos to Tom Cable. For the first time in years, the Oakland Raiders actually looked like an NFL football team. The Raiders came out with a game plan, they played hard and took it to the Chargers with some physical play. 5. Too bad, Tom Cable has the impossible task of making an NFL quarterback out of JaMarcus Russell. That was the difference in the game. San Diego has a QB and Oakland doesn't. Yea he is terrible. They just need to run the ball every play because that is the only chance they have of scoring. 6. Jason Campbell separates the Redskins from the rest of the NFC East. That's not a compliment. 7. The other three NFC East QB's? Tony Romo is a very good QB. But, he hasn't proven he can get it done when it matters most. Donovan McNabb has been great in Philly. But, he can be up and down at times and he's injury prone. Eli Manning? He's not a glamour guy, but he's always in the lineup and he does what it takes to win. I'll take Eli. Agree on 6 and 7. I think the top 3 are extremely close though. 8. The Saints are a fun team. I want to see what Brees can do with a full arsenal for 16 games. Here's to hoping that Bush, Colston, Shockey, et al can stay healthy this season. One of my favorite teams behind the Bengals and Colts. So many weapons if they can just all stay healthy. 9. Cadillac Williams? Congratulations to him. Great to see him not only back on the field, but starting and playing well. 10. Jake Delhomme. They probably shouldn't have given him that $20 million contract extension. haha 11. Three QB's I like better than you do...Shaun Hill, Kyle Orton, Trent Edwards. Shaun Hill=Decent...Trent Edwards=good....Kyle Orton=terrible 12. Quarterbacks not JaMarcus Russell that I don't like...Jason Campbell, Jay Cutler, Chad Pennington. Cutler will be fine and the rest don't really matter. Agree 100% 14. Looking ahead, if the Patriots and Steelers meet in the playoffs, the coaches should strategize to try to make sure their team gets the ball last. The game will be close, and whoever has the ball last will win, because Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger are the best in the league at the last minute drive. They rarely ever fail and both guys do it in vastly different ways. Fun to watch. :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

Brees for President! I'm interested in what Brees does in Philly this week. Last season there was a big discrepancy between his home and road stats. Home - 67.4%, 329.3 ypg (9.1 ypa), 23 TD, 5 Int Away - 63.1%, 304.4 ypg (7.1 ypa), 11 TD, 12 Int
