I like Ram's straightforward and honest answers to the many questions posed by Coupon21. I think I'll wait until later in the week to make a prediction on this one, though, since Barr and Carter are likely to be such gamechanging players.

 

I know many of you are close with the Raceland program and know exactly what is going on, but let me throw in my outsider's perspective just for discussion:

 

1) Raceland lost what was obviously a very special senior class last year in both physical skills and leadership qualities. Those types of players are not easily replaced. Expectations seemed to remain the same, though.

 

2) Raceland has several transfers on the team this year. It could be possible that it is difficult to integrate guys who are coming in with guys who have been there for a while.

 

3) Raceland increased the difficulty of their schedule this year. They've played Boyd County (which is a much larger school), Ashland (which is the best in our area), and Fleming County (which apparently is a pretty good 3A team). They also played these first 3 games away from home.

 

4) Raceland then lost several of the key players they were counting on to injuries for the first few games. They either didn't play or were limited in action.

 

So they've had a lot going against them so far this season. Maybe they can get it together over the next few weeks going into their district games. These first few games are really meaningless except for some bragging rights anyway. I don't know. I just figured I'd throw some alternative reasons for their slow start out there other than the lack of motivation cited by a few.

Raceland wins this one. It is Greenup for goodness sake. They always get fired up for Greenup. If they have not got anything for this game then they need to packer-up and let next years team play for the rest of the season. Go Rams and play with that fire thats in everyone that has ever worn that orange football jersey. Feel the pride and get the job done. Rams wake up and win 32 to 21.........

Why are 3 of Racelands transfers back at GC? Can GC stop anyone on special teams?......This game could have its own reality show, these plot lines are awesome.

I am at a total loss for words and thoughts for this one. I am so happy for GC to get a win Friday night but I am also saddened by Raceland's lack of effort, emotion and brotherhood. I don't think they quite understand yet that last year's seniors are not here to bail them out. This is the week we see if we have anything in the tank. If you cannot play with emotion in your home opener against the big County school down the river, then it will be a long season. Good luck to both teams and hopefully both stay injury free.

 

Very well said doc. I have always said that should the Rams (each player) work hard all week, leave absolultely every ounce of effort and desire laying out on that field and at the end of the game and can honestly look in the mirror and say.. "I gave every ounce of effort I possibly could have on every play) then I will have nothing bad to say to them. My problem is when that does not happen from every player on every play as well as in every minute of practice everyday!

From what all I understand this team hasn't bought into that theory as much as some past teams. Should we get beat by a better football team then that is all we can say if all out effort is given. What imo is unacceptable is when a Raceland team lets another out hustle, out work, out hit and play with more intensity and desire than they do!

Ram players, take a long and honest look at look at yourself, not someone else....are you honestly giving all you have got?? Only you can answer that if you will and lying to yourself helps no one, including you. There are 7 regular season games left, including all the district games, it is up to you guys. Are you going to turn it around or are you going to pack it in, give up and quit right now?

Think about it,...think about what Raceland Football means to you, think about all the teams/players that came before you and what Raceland Football meant to them. Think about what Raceland Football means to this coomunity and fans....and has since 1929 (or somewhere around there).

One more piece of advice that is jmo and you can do with what you want.........stop listening to all of the useless squabble/rumors/gossip between some fans and some parents (no need to call them out, they know who they are :irked: and that's all I will say about that.). Listen to your coaches, work with your teammates and get back to Raceland Ram Football!!

Both Duncan boys and Kitchen. I also heard a rumor that there might be one more. It doesnt really matter, they didnt want to put in the hard work Copley was asking for, so they went to Raceland and I guess couldnt cut it there either. I have known these boys since they were pups, I want nothing but the best for them, but until they realize they have to put in the work, they will never play H.S. football.

According to Greenup players, the score has been predicted to be 35-12. (That is Greenup with 35). I guess confidence is high in Lloyd. If Raceland is not playing with heart and emotion, they could be right.
