SLINK Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Simon Kenton 28-21. I will say that Miles Simpson will be the deciding factor.
goldsmith Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 My prediction is Dixie 35 Simon Kenton 29 Should be a really good battle but Dixie has so many Seniors that have matured, they're playing well as a team, and their line has improved so much, they could be too much even for Miles
Benchedblonde Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Its going to be a battle, but in the end Dixie will win 28-21:ylsuper:.
sidelinedoc Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I am from NEKY and had not heard that Simpson was injured. What is his injury?
goldsmith Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 I heard he had a minor ankle sprain. He played some plays last week but not alot. He'll probably start then they'll play it by ear.
NEERFAN Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Those ankle sprains can last a while, even if he plays I don't think he'll be 100%. I expect a very good game with or without Miles. SK would be the favorite with MS, and I still think they are a slight fave without.
Voice of Reason Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 This game is about Simon Kenton stopping Ryan Wilson throwing the ball (and running it as well). Simon Kenton will score their points. I am not sure how effective Dixie will be running the ball outside of Wilson scrambling for yards. I think Wilson throwing should concern Simon Kenton a lot. I have been talking about Dixie all summer so I am going to stick with them in this one. Dixie 31- SK 28 in an upset.
mexitucky Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I look for Dixie to win 28-17 w/out Simpson. 28-21 w/ him. Remember that Simpson went for 1,000 yards against Dixie last year. I'm sure they remember that embarrasment. I don't see SK being able to stop Dixie's fast break attack.

If I'm SK, I sit Simpson another week, and I'm not saying that because I'm a Dixie fan. Simpson is very important to SK, and they need him 100% going into district play. This game means absolutely nothing, other than bragging rights, although it could be a factor in a tie-breaker for playoff seedings. They will need him on both sides of the ball against Conner, Ryle, and Boone. Powell looked very good against NCC Saturday, and his speed will cause enough problems for Dixie. IMO, there isn't a drop-off (offensively) from a healthy Powell and a gimpy Simpson (based on what I saw Saturday). I look for some points to be put on the board in this game. The key to this game, IMO, is Dixie's offensive line. How are they going to handle SK's 3-4 scheme. Are they going to be able to pick up those LB's? However, SK could come out with a different scheme when you have to defend 4 and 5 receiver sets. Unfortunately, Saturday's game didn't give us the opportunity to see how good SK's defensive backfield is. This game could possibly come down to who has the ball last.
NEERFAN Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Nees, I agree with your assessment, the only thing to gain would be those tie breaker points, but that should be low on the totem pole. I also agree about SK's defense against a spread offense. Baldwin and Lockhard were in the backfield the entire 2nd half against NCC, it should be interesting. Dixie did lose 28-0, but they had plenty of opportunities to score last season, they were just a bit inconsistent offensively. I saw quite a few passes that could've/should've been caught that could have turned into scores. I'm excited about this game.
