I'm sorry for you if your son is the kicker but the opening play was a dirty move, but acceptable and enjoyable. The play was in between whistles. Kicks and punches are not part of football but happen. If they are not called, then usually the dirtiest/cheapest team will take advantage. To say that Ryle football has no class or discipline is outright insane. Elliot is a 15 year old loose cannon. He needs to be controlled but the storybook program from Ft. Thomas has no room to speak. Listen to the eye witnesses and those from the past as well!!

Well if you're using that logic, which is innaccurate anyways, but let us assume you're right. Ryle was the bad guy, Highlands just "answered the call". That is no excuse for Highlands dirty play and bad mouths. Two wrongs don't make a right, didn't your mom ever tell you that?

 

In all seriousness though between Ryle and Highlands, it is pretty obvious which one has the reputation of dirty play/mouth preceding them. There was no innocent party last night, but you're kidding yourself if you're saying Highlands came in as angels. They didn't. From the beginning.

You seem like you may have been on the sidelines, possibly in uniform...posssssibly for Highlands? lol. In that case, then I can totally see why you're blaming everything on Ryle. And Ryle is likely blaming everything on you. It was both of you. Over and done.

No one is forgetting that and we all know how good Collinsworth is. But I sure would like to see Elliott as a kick returner/punt returner....and I'd like to see him on defense too...he sure likes to get physical.

I will tell you this Dale would not put up with this! Elliott would have already learned from week 1 that attitude is unacceptable. No boy is bigger than the program, Highlands boys buy into that. Heck I am 42 years old and Dale would have me grabbing pads, looking like a fool if he called on me. That is the respect he has for the history of the program and the boys have for those that wore the uniform before them. I am sure we are not angels on the field; but Elliott and his couple of tantrums will only be hurting himself. Ryle is not good enough to have those type of penalties and Dale would not put up with them. If you watch the offsetting personal fouls, I might be wrong but Highlands was whistled for a boy entering the field of play to defend; not for conduct on the field. It is what a saw from the field official on the far sideline.

I have made no excuse for Elliott, and if he did flick off a CovCath coach then he shouldn't have played and should have been disciplined. I had not heard of that incident. But anyone saying highlands is above all of this and that is just blind. Your kids are no different from the kids at any other school and they have taunted and ran their mouths just as bad and sometimes worse. I am positive of this. So both parties were wrong, that's it.

Sorry, but I have to agree that this Birds team seems to have been a bit over-hyped. Not to say they won't eventually be an extremely dominating team, I'm sure they will. But right now they are not living up to "the best team ever" accolades. The offense is way ahead of the D at this point, IMO.

 

OK, I'll take the bait. Keep in mind that ever other team that you, or others, would consider to be candidates for the best team ever, can be viewed in the entirity of their season. We have seen two games out of this team, and I can honestly say that I don't think they have hit their peak yet. Where will that be? Who knows, but it will be fun to watch!

 

BTW - I couldn't care less about the best team ever thing. This team has some goals that they are striving for, and I'm enjoying them work to get there.

Awesome. So by you, Ryle started playing dirty and HHS did the same only as some form of retaliation? Sure. Regardless, at the end of the day, they both had some questionable plays and penalties. "Answering the call" (i.e., playing dirty because you think the other team is playing dirty) is still just as illegal and just as unsportsmanlike.

 

And Ryle didn't play "dirty" anyways. They had a couple of dumb penalties and they got called for them. Happens in just about every football game that's played. BTW, so did HHS, though they didn't seem to get called for them as often.

 

I will give you this, though. It's getting a bit tiresome watching one of Ryle's players run his mouth and get flagged for unsportsmanlike penalties week after week. Lack of maturity and it's hurting their team.
