When decisions have come from the panel of 12 before awarding millions to people who spill coffee on themselves, the insurance company has to assess risk differently than those of us using common sense.

These types of cases make me sick.

Good job thats one way to get some of are money back.Insurance co. are nothing but money makers take from everybody give to no one unless we have to thats their thinking.I don't like the way she did it .

While I don't like how high insurance rates have risen, ... I also understand the need for insurance. EG. If my house burned down with no insurance, I would be royally shafted. But with my insurance, I could rebuild in that instance. Insurance may be evil in your eyes (and in the eyes of many), but it is a necessary evil. They shouldn't pay any claim without investigation. There is already so much insurance fraud that combined with ridiculous claims like this one, it drives the rates up. Like it or not, insurance companies are for profit businesses, just like most businesses, and if the cost of doing business goes up (eg. fraud, ridiculous claims, etc), then they have to raise their rates/prices. If the price of meat doubles, see if Burger King doesn't raise their prices. They have to in order to stay in business. They are in it to make money.

Probably smacked you on the head for not sliding properly. :D

:thumb::thumb::thumb: That's the first thing I thought too!!!

This my friends is the major reason we are in the healthcare crisis we are in!

Because the kid couldn't Slide ?

Since they settled out of court, will that money have to be used to pay his medical costs?

Because the kid couldn't Slide ?

Because of all the frivolous lawsuites!

That makes no sense whatsoever. When my son broke his hip playing football, who should we have sued? The kid who tackled him? The coach who called the play? The QB who threw the ball to him? The Defensive coach who called the coverage? The opposng head coach? The Trinity head coach? Trinity for offering football? Nike for his shoes? A teammate who didn't block the tackler? In sports, you have a risk of getting hurt everytime you play. It's just a part of life. And how anyone would feel that it's OK to "get money for a child's accident" is in anyway ethical is flabbergasting!

Thats what some people would do...sue everyone!
