This game should be interesting. I am excited to see how Newport responds to the new staff. I think the final score will be within 7 points. I'll take the Wildcats 20-19.

The Tigers D will come up with at least 2 picks. Look for DJ Slater to come up with a big Defensive game. The first game jitters are over for the Tigers and they are ready to start playing the way they know they can. Newport won't know what hit them. It will be a decent game until the 4th quarter when Newport can't keep up. Tigers by at least 14.

After watching the Tigers/Indians game last week I think this week comes down to two factors for Bellevue: blocking and tackling. If the Tigers can block effectively during all four quarters (instead of one) they will be much more likely to score with some sort of frequency.

 

As for the Tackling issue; the real question is where to begin? The only person moving forward on a run play last week was the safety (Buckler). LB and DL play really left something to be desired.

 

If these two major difficulties are corrected this week, I see the tigers coming away with this one in a big way:

Wildcats: 13

I look for this game to be very close from start to finish.

 

I’m not one for making predictions, but I am excited to see the direction the Newport program is taking under there new coaching staff.

I agree with you on the 3 td's win - not going to happen. I am happy to see such a positive attitude by the Wildcat faithful, but I don't believe this years team is better than last year's team and I'm not sure about Bellevue. Thus making it hard for them to beat Bellevue - who are always great competitors. The Wildcat coaching staff is very upbeat, but it is going to take more than that to beat the Tigers on Saturday night.

Newport is going to be so much better in a lot of ways than last years team. They spent all winter in the weight room and have worked very hard all summer on there conditioning. They will be one of the fastest teams in NKY. I think this game will show every one how far they have came, but also how far they still need to go. The new coahing staff has there work cut out for them. Every one has been talking about how good of a head coach and his staff they have and I think we will find out a little more about that also.

It seems as though the new coaching staff has gotten off on the right foot with the Newport faithful. Just remember it's hard to make change overnight. Give them time to let some of the changes they have made take full affect. Win or loose Saturday Night these guys have infused the Newport program with an excitement they have been lacking in the last couple of years. Gotta say I hope the Tigers win this week but may the Wildcats have success the remainder of the year.

I don't know much about these two teams coming into this year, only that Newport received a great coach from Dayton in Nick Rice. He will have them players playing with everything they have, and Newport really has a great guy and a passionate coach in Rice. As for the game, I can only go on what I have read and heard so my prediction is not that accurate, but anyways.
