I think South has too many things working against them this year. It could be a long season for the Cardinal faithful. Not taking away anything from Coach Herron and the W'Burg team/coaches, they are doing a great job down there in Williamsburg and I think, not matter if South had all their starters or not, that The Jackets are taking this one easily.

I hope that SL pulls this one out. Starting off 0-2 with a hot NL team for the 3rd game would not make the Cardinal's Nest faithful very happy. Coach Welch and his Cardinals need a win this week, and I hope they get it! I will be there.

 

 

That being said, South Laurel has an outstanding group of freshman, .. so if they will give Welch some time, South could be very solid within the next few seasons.

I heard Williamsburg lost one of their running backs to a knee injury is there any truth to that?

I also heard that the Jackets will be short a running back, although I have not heard just how bad it is or how long he will be out.

That is the word I am hearing. The Jackets are starting to sound like they are having LC's luck from last year.....

From what I have been told (and this is after I made my first post) W'Burg has lost a couple backs and also their leading reciever. So with that said it should make it an interesting game. Personally I am not sure how the defense of South will play. Should be good.

Sounds like both squads are missing some key players. With that being said, I think the advantage would go to South Laurel being a 5A school to have potentially more depth to overcome those losses.

After watching the Jackets practice this week they seem to be making the right adjustments to injury. Thomas moved in for Lowrie in game 1 and turned in a 100 plus yard performance. The defense looked sharper overall in practice, and did turn in an outstanding performance against a much improved Jellico team. I guess I'll go with my heart in this one knowing South has the numbers advantage, and pick Williamsburg 38 - 28.

3wishes is right, the Cumberland Valley Bowl game(s) are at South Laurel.

 

However, while some of the NL/SL faithful do cheer against the other school, you will find many (like myself) who will be cheering for both Welch's Cards and Larkey's Jags to win on Saturday. :thumb:
