I think the Wing T and the belly are much different. I do agree both offenses should make for a fast football game.

 

I understand that. I am just stating that both are basic running attacks and like to go between the tackles. Believe me, I have had to play defense against both and neither were fun to defend.

I got Russell in this one just for the simple fact that Greenup never beats Russell at home and I don't think this is the team to buck that trend.

I think this game will be surprisingly close. Russell didn’t do much with East Carter last week until late in the game.

Exactly what I'm thinking.

Of all the 3A schools which had a game last weekend, Russell is the only team which held their opponent to zero points. It will be tough for GC to go on the road for the 2nd consecutive week and get the rebound win against Russell. However, if the Muskies could jump on them early, I can see their style of offense controlling a game.

 

Last week, GC rushed for 154 yards against a good defensive Tomcat squad. If they could do this again AND connect on a few passes, it may be enough to keep the Devils at bay. Lots of “ifs” in my thinking…but stranger things have happened. The real X factor will be how much GC really wants this game. Saturday night will show whether this “new look” GC team has substance or not.

I am curious to watch this one. Russell is at home again after shutting out East and having to hear people say they are down and Greenup is coming off a blow out at the hands of Ashland. I want to see if either team comes out and proves a point. Greenup didn't give up even down 40+ points at Ashland, will they keep that up? Russell is full of tradition and will their pride cause an uprising and see the level of play increase?

Greenup is doing the work they need to do and this game should be closer than most think. The fans are still behind this team and Coach Copley. We know Rome was not built in a day. The changes being made at Greenup are for the long term benefit of the program. That being said, GO Musketeers!

Programs on the rise usually can look back at a “signature win” to illustrate they are for real and a catapult to greater things. Beating Russell in the Back-Yard-Brawl (do they still call it that?) could be such a win.

 

I know it’s still early in the season but this may very well turn out to be Greenup’s night.
