For a Pulaski County team who averaged over 425 yards of total offense last year, just getting 275 yards would be concerning if this team is supposed to be the best ever at Pulaski County, but good luck, North Laurel needs the points you all get with wins.

I think this game could be a very good thing for both teams.

 

1. PC lost a game they were supposed to win and this should serve as their wakeup call. And this loss does nothing for their potential playoff seeding.

2. NL showed that they can play with, and beat a very talented team. This should be a great building block as long as the kids use it the way it should be used, ... motivation to accomplish even more.

Not sure how that could be misleading, they had over 40 total plays, the receivers were always covered and Muse being forced to run out of the pocket. Out of 40 plays, completing only 1 pass is a credit to the defense. You can't say that out of 40 some plays Hines never had the opportunity to call more passes, and if he didn't he obviously should've tried. What is a passing situation? IMO any down could be a passing or running situation.

It seems like they ran more than a few, but they had 1 dropped pass, 2 that were just short of the reciever, 1 bubble screen defensed around the 15 yard line when the DB split 2 blockers to make the play, 1 completion, 2 sacks, and several scrambles by Muse to avoid being sacked when his receivers were covered. A few almost looked like designed draws except that the O line was in pass protection mode. I would guess that 10+ of their 40 offensive plays appear to have been designed pass plays. NL did a very good job of covering the bubble screen that PC is fond of running. They also ran a pass on a 2-pt conversion attempt that was batted down.

 

NL did a great job in keeping the PC offense off of the field for great lengths of time. The 2 recovered onside kicks and 2 PC fumbles really kept the NL offense on the field as well as the Jaguar running game. I was impressed at how hard every back ran.

It's hard to rack up yards when they aren't there to rack up. PC started beyond it's own 35 most of the night. Add the 99 TD return by R.C. White, P.C. really didn't have the chance to rack up big yards.

Credit NL for controlling the ball and keeping it away from the Maroons. Offense will be fine. It's the "D" that has to really step up.

Bad news for PC, they lost... Good news for PC, it doesn't mean a thing in the grand scheme of the season. The Maroons only have to win 4 games in their schedule to win a District Title. I'm sure they will be at work this afternoon getting prepared for the next game. Working on the good stuff, fixing the bad.

You have the right attitude about it. The game has no impact on playoff seeding and I am sure that Coach Hines will use this as a teaching tool for the Maroons to live up to their preseason billing. The defense has to find a way to stop the run. Like I said, this game may be a blessing in disguise for PC. What they choose to do with that experience is entirely up to them.

Did the remarks have anything to do with North Laurel filming the PC practice from across the street.....driving the coach's car? What is the penalty of such?

Early in the article, he really compliments North Laurel. Then as it goes on, the tone turns sour.

 

“We’re obviously concerned, especially when you get beat by North Laurel,” pointed out Hines.

 

As for all the drama of ‘Spygate ‘09’ between these two schools, and the on-going dispute about whether or not a PC football practice was indeed taped by North Laurel, Hines let it be known that he’s still not very happy about the whole situation, and he probably won’t be sending Chris Larkey any Christmas cards any time soon.

 

“Nothing surprised me,” stated Hines very matter of factly. “Everything that went on, everything that was said — nothing surprised me about how that administration (North Laurel) operates.”

Great win and an outstanding offensive called game. Looked like the players were full of intensity the entire game. The team was very organized on the field at all times.

I was really impressed with their early season conditioning. They seemed to be going as hard in the 4th quarter as they were in the 1st. They never were gassed, and several of those kids went both ways. Larkey has obviously worked them very hard and the kids have responded. Now the key is to see if they can maintain that intensity for the rest of the season.

The player who was taken off by ambulance should be able to play on Friday. Gus Sulfridge suffered a stinger, concussion and a broken thumb on that play. He appears to be fine and should be able to go on Friday vs Knox Central.
