Andre Woodson Might be in Trouble

Featured Replies

Still has that long delivery. He completed a short out that seem to take forever to get out of his hand and to the reciever. Won't work in the NFL.

Teams don't pay for training camp superstars. If he can't translate his abilities into the actual games, he'll never make it in the NFL. That being said, the comment that he'll be cut tomorrow was a figure of speech used to illustrate how terribly he played last night. I don't literally think he'll be cut after the first preseason game. I do believe that David Carr is a lock for the #2 spot, however.

I agree with the bolded.

And I understand that teams do not pay for "training camp superstars" but I also understand that this was one preseason game. There are 3 left for him to show his abilities.

I was hoping for the best, but he looked really shaky last night. Of course, as I suspected in another thread, the WR group is horrible and didn't help anyone out last night.

How was the Giants WR group horrible last night? If anything they didn't get an opportunity to show anything because Woodson played poorly.

When Carr and Manning were in the wide receivers did fine.

Why does this surprise anyone? Woodson was an overhyped prospect from the word go ... he doesn't deliver the ball like an NFL quarterback should or make the throws that would be expected of him.

Fine? I know most people are homers for their favorite team, but come on. They ran horrible routes, they didn't make plays on the ball...you can't really be serious.

And I realize that you are trying to insult me because I like my team...but I also realize that this is the first game of the preseason and you can't take much away from it.

Horrible routes? Didn't make plays on the ball? What were you watching? I've actually watched the game twice on DVR and I don't see much of these horrible routes, especially since most of the camera angles don't show the receivers running their routes. And especially considering the Giants didn't throw down field all that often last night.

Since you were paying so much attention to detail, could you point out any examples? I saw one example of Ramses Barden not coming back to the ball, but Woodson threw a horrible pass anyways. If you remember specifics, that would be great.

You watched that game twice?

J/K - I thought the first and second string receivers were alright, but it got a little rough in the second half.

Not the entire thing. I've actually watched some of it three times .

Watched bits and pieces during a fantasy draft, rewatched it all when I got home, and then skipped through commercials and in between plays and watched the plays again today.

I was bored.

Luckily for Andre Woodson, it looks like Rhett Bomar is getting overpaid for this summer job, as well.

Well played.

:dancingpa

Bomar was 2/2 in the only two passes he was allowed to throw...what made him look so bad?

He looked way to slow for the NFL game, as well - although that is to be expected in the first preseason game.

He sandwiched two completions - one for 9 yards, one for 12 yards - around a fumble that was recovered by his own team. The possession before that he was sacked for a 7-yard loss on 3rd down.

He's a rookie late round draft pick. Like I said before, the Giants offense is fairly difficult to pick up right away. He didn't look like Tom Brady, but he didn't do awful.

I'd say he is destined for the Giants practice squad though. I think Woodson has a shot at making the roster, but only if the Giants think he'll eventually become good enough to be Eli's back up. I doubt he'll be the back up this year, but if he shows enough to make them think that he could do it next year, I think they will keep him as their 3rd QB. If he doesn't, he'll get released and Bomar will be their back up QB project, so long as another team doesn't sign him off of the Giants practice squad.

I wasn't trying to insult you at all. I was telling you what I thought while I watched the game...one time...I mean, i've got a career and a family...I can't break down film....twice of a preseason game...you obviously know much more about the Giants than me...and the entire MNF crew that thought the WR were bad...but hey, we will see how the season plays out. I'm nowhere near the Giants expert you are. I was just saying what I thought I saw while I watched the game.

I think he will be fine. As many people have said it was the first game and he was a little nervous. He will make the corrections and move on. They won't go too much in depth on the fim and they will be out on the field and he will forget all abou it. The 2nd and 4th games will be huge for Andre, thats when he will see most of his snaps. The game will speed up nd so will he I wish him the best. IMO. Go Giants!!!!! :thumb:
