Actually, GC wanted to move the freshmen and JV to Putnam Stadium next week, but I believe a deal has been arranged for the non-varsity Muskies to play at Ashland on Labor Day weekend. Is the GC field not ready to go?

 

Considering all the rain, Putnam’s field has drained fairly well although there are still a few “soft” spots out there. Overall, the surface is very playable.

 

 

 

True! I do hate “messed up” lines.:lol: As for Ashland’s history of rescheduling games, I can think of times in the past which, as a spectator, was glad it was moved because of severe weather. I also know there has been consideration given to all the teams (Verity 7th and 8th grade, about 6 JFL teams, Freshmen and JV) which play at Putnam and their respective schedules…sometimes, it just made more sense moving the varsity game.

 

I plan on being at BC this Saturday, so I really hope Ashland plays on Friday as scheduled.

 

I am so glad you are a good sport. I, too, plan on watching your game Friday. I hope nothing changes. Maybe we can get some of us BGPers together down by the cannon!:thumb:

The Independent’s football tab came out this morning. I only had time for a quick look. The cover had 4-players: Johnson Central’s Dillon, Russell’s Rice, Ashland’s Alber and someone from Greenup Co. I think.

I think the Tomcats will be too much, but I expect GC to play well. Hate that they'll be one man down Friday and my thoughts will definitely be with the Meenach family.

I had predicted Ashland in this one. GCHS has a new coach who has no doubt changed some attitudes about their program, and that was long overdue. I look for GC to surprise some with a better record than some may think, but the Tomcats imo just have too much for GC this season.

I agree it is easier, but it is still a new system and a new philosophy. As Woody Hayes stated so well many years ago, "3 things can happen you you pass and 2 of 'em ain't good".

I thought it was good coverage of all the teams. I always enjoy the football tabloid. It makes me remember the days of old (the days before aches and pain), excited to read about everyone and the excitement of a new season.

Just got back in from Putnam Stadium...we dodged some real downpours this evening. The field is in good shape for tomorrow's contest...not perfect, but ok.

Footall Friday Night. My favorite day of the week. I just hope that I can stay dry tonight, and all of the young men stay injury free.

I like Greenup's attitude for sure it's just going to take some time to get things turned around. I predict Greenup keeps it close early but the Tomcats pull away in the second half. Still the Muskies will take a lot of positives out of the game.

It looks like the weather is going to be OK for tonight's game. After reading the Independent's preview of each team, I still think Ashland is going to win big this evening. While it does sound like Greenup will be improved, I just don't think they have the personnel to compete with the Tomcats this season. I think Greenup could pull off some surprises in other games on their schedule, though. Looking at Ashland's schedule, if they should happen to lose this game tonight, then it figures to be a long season for them this year.

I believe the boys will handle this game with style and class. They'll play hard and come out on top!
