Like someone already said, it's mediocre at best. For what it is, it's overpriced. Culver's reminds me of Steak and Shake, but with more options for the shakes. Their butter burgers are almost identical in taste to the Frisco melt I usually get at SandS. BUT -> Steak and Shake is cheaper than Culver's.

 

 

Have eaten at the one in Murray, Ky which is near Murray State University, and while I will live only a few miles from the new store in Florence, I won't be making a point to visit the place.

BTW the sign for Barleycorns is still up and from the way the land is laid out, I truly can't see it being a strip mall with Barleycorns. It looks like it will be a stand alone building.

We now have one in Richmond. It is ok but I thought the prices were a little high.

Prices seem higher than SandS but Culvers combo prices include a drink and SandS is an extra almost $2 for a drink. Prices very comparable imo.

 

Butter Burgers Rock!!!! so much so that SandS now has their own "Butter Burger". Culvers has crinkle cut fries not the potato threads at SandS and the frozen custard is delicious. Somerset has a new Culvers under construction now.

There was an article in the Enquirer a few weeks back. It said the owner was taking advantage of good prices (due to the down economy) to have the land cleared and leveled in preparation of developing at some point. It didn't say when or what would be built though.

Its going to be nuts in that area. Its all ready too crowded. Traffic is ridiculous every direction anymore.

There is nothing planned at this point. There have been some discussions about potential businesses, but nothing significant.

Trust me, Barleycorns will be in the strip mall. They have been unable to get other tenants though, so construction has not yet begun. I think the "strip" is going to be 3 businesses, with Barleycorn's occupying approximately 50% of the space.

It's not too bad, but there is some traffic. Fortunately, they have installed a traffic light at the corner of Mt. Zion & Gunpowder, which will relieve a lot of the traffic.

 

Also, Mt. Zion will be expanding in the near future...

I would try it. I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a fast food experience. I hate the grossness of many fast food restaurants and I do not get that from Culvers.

It is worth trying. Culvers is very simliar to a Dairy Queen in that it is both food and ice cream oreinted (Culvers was started by a former Dairy Queen operater). The food is good despite the opinon of some others, the service is very professional. I would say the service is very good but I have had longer waits than I would like. They have a HUGE menu with everything under the sun on it.
