They beat Campbell Co. by 20 at home and 15 on the road last year as well. For Scott and Campbell to be considered contenders year in and year out like Mason County and Clark, they will have to have a better showing than that.

Outside of Mason and Clark who would be the next tier of teams that could make it to regional finals (If Mason/Clark are in the same bracket)?? What does the future hold?

I would say after Mason County and Clark County the 10th Region predictions is anybody's guess. I would think second-tier teams would be Scott, Campbell County, Bishop Brossart and Mongtomery County.

Scott was better than you're giving them credit for. Sure MC beat them by 21, but Scott was better than that game showed. You also failed to mention that Mason Co played them early in the season (second week of December), rather than late in the season when they were clicking on all cylinders and really rolling along.

 

Scott had Holmes on the ropes, only to lose by 1 point in overtime (Holmes closest game all year, outside of the state championship) and they also knocked off several other good teams such as South Laurel and Corbin.

 

I think Scott will be pretty solid next year. Losing Gligorevic (sp?), Murray, and Hagfors will hurt but they return a pretty solid nucleus to work with. Kellen Smith should be one of the top point guards in the region next year. They have a solid big man to patrol the paint in 6'8 O'Connor as well as a couple athletic guards in Neideregger and Jones. The only weakness I see is their depth. They didn't have a particularly good JV squad.

I had forgot about Scott taking Holmes to the wire, thanks for the reminder, also on Corbin and South Laurel. I agree they were clicking on all cylinders at the end of the season. A good coach will have his team doing that. I have always said....don't count out Scott. :thumb:

No doubt that GRC is absolutely loaded for the next two years but Mason Co has 3 juniors who will also play at the collegiate level in Pawsatt, Gilbert and Setty. All three of these players played very well in Cincinnati at the Take 5 event this week.
