This is a new year. Injuries are apart of the game and a team needs to overcome them. I felt like GRC did that to the best of their ability and played their hearts against Mason. The better team on the floor won that day. This year should be fun for Top 2. If only I could be there to watch the Finals at The Fieldhouse again. It is relevant. We did beat Mason, in regular season. Remember the 3 free throws that Stenzel hit at the end of the game. So yes having Zollo and Hatton injured did make a huge difference. Or maybe it was just the home court advantage....

 

You may call it what you may, but if you call that a win with a questionable call at the end of the game, so be it. As far as injuries, Pawsat was injured as well throughout the season, after the shot he took from Phares at Scott County. He suffered a concussion and sat out 2 games I think and never really was the same. To Pawsat's credit he played through it and was a huge difference in the region finals. Was he 100%?, hardly think so. It showed in the next game at the State Tournament where he never attempted a shot. The answer to this is Mason/Clark or Clark/Mason are the best two teams in the region, however if injuries do occur, which often happens in sports, it is the how well the players and coaches adapt to the certain situation. Best of luck to both teams in the upcoming year, and represent the 10th.

It's cool, absolutely unquestioned, and so dominant a victory it should be put in bold type that Clark won because a foul was called on an off balance 35 footer when they were trailing as time ran out.

 

Totally fine to question an eight point Mason County victory because GRC players (all but one of whom were back and participated in that game) had been banged up during the year.

I agree with the bolded. GRC and Mason are the favorites of the 10th in the coming year. Whoever wins the region, I will be at the State tourney cheering on the 10th region winner. We never know what will happen between now and March. I just hope I am around to see it.

I have heard that 2 sophomores will figure into the equation for the success of the Royals and their bid for a 3rd consecutive regional championship. They have played well beyond their age this summer, and may even crack the starting lineup once football season is over.

I think Mason will start Gilbert,Setty,Pawsat, Lang, and Lang. Coming off the bench will be Manship, Black, Harris, and Osborne. Barner imo is not easy to replace on the defensive side of the court. His length and athleticism made him capable of guarding anyone on the floor. His offense left a little bit to be desired, but he was improving. I hate to see the kid change schools, but with the economy the way it is, how can you blame him or his parents. I wish Phil nothing but the best of luck.

Don't be surprised to see Sophomore Tyler Black in the starting lineup,Hes becoming a beast inside .He has some very good low post moves so far this summer.Barner is gone at this point ,But don't be surprised come School year when School begins if he isn't back at Mason.

I am familiar with Pawsat, Gilbert and Setty. Could you give us some info on Lang, Lang, Manship, Black, Harris and Osborne? What grade, height,position, did they play on varsity, JV or Freshman last year? Are Gilbert, Setty and Pawsat the only ones with varsity experience?

How tall is Black, did he play varsity last year? I always enjoyed watching Barner play. Remember his dunk in the regional finals last year....really sparked the Royals. I hope everything works out for him and his family.
