Meeks to Bucks

Featured Replies

The guy drafted in the same spot last year got a 2 yr deal for $450k in year one and $736k in year 2.

After paying taxes ,agent ect... it wouldnt be much.

But I would play in the NBA for that much.

Glad to see him go above Marcus Johnson (I think that's his name), from LSU.

Marcus Thornton.

Wow. I guess "much" is relative.

If your point is that its a "low" contract by NBA standards, thank you for that nugget.

I think it was a good landing place for him. The Bucks have already shipped Jefferson out and who knows if Redd will be safe. A team like the Bucks end up playing young guys and I think Meeks has a shot here to prove himself. I wish he was back with UK but since he isn't this was not bad for a destination.

Today's HL has the Bucks saying that they though no way Meeks makes it to the 2nd round. Their comments seemed to be real high on him.

That is one argument. The other argument is that Meeks was not going to improve his draft stock any more than he already had with next year being a much deeper draft.

Yeah he probably would not have improved his stock much, and would have been around the same pick. However he might have been getting picked next year 41st while wearing a National Championship ring. So in the end he probably made a poor choice, unless he does make the team. Basically came down to him thinking about possibly making money, and that thought outweighed the thought of being a star player again for the last time in his life and winning a title possibly.

Good luck to Jodie, hope he makes a roster, but I really didn't care if he came back or not, I think Kentucky will be just fine without him

UK might be fine without him, but would have been even better with him. They will miss this year having a consistent outside threat, because right now going into the year we don't have anyone that we know for sure that will be a consistent outside threat. So that could be the thing that hurts UK, because we will see a lot of zone defenses and a lot of saggy man to man, because people will try to stop us from driving, and make us beat them from deep. So not having him, is going to hurt more than you think. Now can this team still make a title run, well of coarse because this team is loaded with talent. However with Meeks, our chances would have been a lot better.

This line of thinking for the Bucks may be one of the reasons why they've been terrible over the past how many seasons....:idunno:

Some teams just don't know how to draft.

That is if he makes the team. I would bet not much if any of that is a signing bonus. Did this player drafted 41 last year make the team that drafted him?

I like UK's chances with Wall, Dodson, Miller, Bledsoe and Hood.
