Top D2 teams rely on these types of D1 transfers, and it looks like NKU will get a nice addition.

Northern didn't seem to have anything on the website yet about this guy.

Anyone know why he wanted to transfer?

He first signed with SIU. Once their coach quit he I guess wanted to go to NKU

NKU should be loaded next year. Any word on Stewart or other UK guys coming to NKU?

Southern Indiana got in recruiting trouble, giving players money on their visit. I think they are on a 3 or 5 years of no post season play and forfeit all games from last year.

A.J. Stewart is heading to Central Florida.

Slone is at Morehead St.

It's indeed a shame that a University the size of NKU (and growing) is still playing D2 basketball and indeed with as nice of a home court as the BOKC is, when school smaller than NKU like Morehead and Murray play D1 and compete quite nicely in the OVC and the Big Dance.

As everyone knows that I work in the SID office at Northern Ky. Univ., I shy away from these posts about NKU but I was told to go ahead and post a reply about this.

From what I can garner of the situation, Palmer had previously signed with the University of Southern Indiana, which is also in the Great Lakes Valley COnference with NKU. If he has decided to go to a different school other than USI, he wouldn't be allowed to come to Northern because of the 25% Rule (a rule that dates back to the mid-90s and basically says if someone signs with a GLVC team and will be receiving a minimum of a 25% scholarship, he/she can't transfer to another GLVC school unless they are released by the school that they signed with).

USI's release on when Palmer had signed

It would be nice for bloggers to attribute this type of information to credible sources before posting it. The Sports Information Office at Northern Kentucky University has heard nothing about this (thus no coverage on the NKU Athletics website) and was stunned by the posting of this information.

The thing is you can only sign one time through out your whole college carreer. So he can go whenever he wants.

So statman...are you saying he isn't coming to NKU because of this rule? I'm a tad confused.

Its too expensive at this time to go D1. There are heavy costs involved.

Won't happen for quite some time.

I was told straight from the horse's mouth, so-to-speak, so I'm not sure what to think, now.

Any other information?

When you say straight from the horse's mouth are you meaning Palmer himself?

I am very curious to know because he has already signed to play with USI and is still on their roster for the upcoming season...the roster can be found by clicking here.

Since he has already signed with USI, he wouldn't be able to transfer to NKU due to the 25% Rule that I had previously talked about.
