I dont think anyone is counting out what the 6 seniors meant to last years team. I think it will take time for this group to find their identity but when it comes time for post season play, Elliott County will be right in the mix of things. I keep saying that Knipp is going to be a totally different player next year and his supporting cast is underrated. Lets also not under estimate how valuable it was for this group to have to compete against last years team everyday in practice for the last two years.

Beat a 64th team in Round 1 if I recall correctly.

I believe Russell had 3 of their five wins from the 64th.

I thought we were talking about this coming year? And beating Boyd twice LAST YEAR is nothing to brag about. Since we are discussing the past, when was the last time a 63rd district team made it to Rupp and scored over 30 points?

 

Elliott will struggle. I think Knipp will miss the Faulkners but I forgot that at Elliott they don't rebuild they just reload every 30 to 40 years.

:popcorn::popcorn:I haven't heard any one talking about Rowan Co in the 16th. The Vikings have lots of returning talent this year. Cody Hunter will be one of the best "Big Men" in the Region, Jacob Ginter is great at Forward, totally overlooked, Adam Wing is a strong Junior Forward, and also Corey Hunter-6'6" Junior "Center"will also make some noise this year. Rowan Co beat Fairview last year at Fairview, and Rowan took Ashland into overtime in the Region. The 16th Region is wide open this year, with no strong overpowering team, Rose Hill can definately be beat by the Vikings. Colt Barnhill is a strong talent for East Carter, but the triple towers at Rowan Co should be able to keep him contained.

 

Just a few thoughts, it should be a very interesting year.:popcorn:

Rowan County couldn't even beat Russell on a 5 win season. I think that they're anywhere from 5-15 on any given night.:bunny:

How bad is the entire 16th region? To call any team loaded for next year is a huge overstatement.

 

That said I think East and Rose Hill are the favorites. I would like to think WC is a top 5 team I just don't see it. They have two players with any type of experience returning. I think there will be a youth movement there except for Rayburn, Jerrell and Bond. Could see a bunch of sophomores and a frosh getting major minutes.

They have Terrence Smith. He can play. But Joe will have his work cut out for him this season.

You're all forgetting about Menifee this year. The Green boys are going to be really tough to beat. Blake Green will be a top 5 player in the Region. This is a team that lost only two seniors (only one starter), won 16 games and will be deeper and more confident this year. I believe they are a top 3 team this year and will contend for the title.

Really? In about 5 or 6 years none of us know what will happen in the region. The idea that the 16th has or ever will be loaded is funny to me. Traditionally, the 16th Region is either a one, two or three team race, or is so mediocre that many teams have a chance. The overall depth is never there and I don't see that changing.
