How many final fours has Cal coached in? If only two and has had both wiped out because of violations is not a good omen.

How many cheating scandals has the school been through WITHOUT Cal? With Rupp? With Sutton? Same perception is already there, folks. With or without Cal, with or without the current news, we are viewed as cheats by many already. What is new about it all? All the good we have accomplished is tarnished by a lot of talk. Heck, most of the time we are mentioned during the NCAA tourney a lot of negatives are brought up. Everything from point shaving to racism.

Let them talk. Let them accuse. MAKE them prove.

Substitute Duke, UNC, Indiana, etc,etc, for Louisville. If those schools had a site as good as this one devoted primarily to their team, they wouldn't even be on here. Say what you want, this is a UK site and I laugh when I read them bash our program.

Apparently they care, they care so much they start threads about UK's chances to win the NCAA title over the field next year simply to get a rise out of facs and in a way poke fun at the ones that do have-although it may be a little extreme and premature-some optimism.

 

I said this in another thread and I'll say it here: Why do they care so much if there are fans that think Kentucky can win the title, or ones that are quick to attempt to defend Calipari when something negative comes out about him? Everyone is entitled to their opinion on here as long as it doesn't break or interfere with the rules, so what's it to ya if I want to say I think Kentucky can win the title next year and that I'm going to give Calipari the benefit of the doubt?

 

It doesn't get under my skin if Deuce, Schue and other UL fans said they think Louisville could win a national title next season or they think RP hasn't done anything sinister regarding the extortion deal. It doesn't bother me if 98 says UNC could run the table in 09 as well as it doesn't get to me if Purple Pride wants to sing the praises of Duke from the top of Mount Everest.

 

I would like an repsonse from someone on this, I've never understood why it irked some on here that people are optimistic about Kentucky basketball and its coach-even if that optimism is a bit much. That's the point of a message board right?

Seriously...we finally hit a homerun on the coaching hire and we're supposed to be ho-hum about it? And, he follows it up by amassing what some have called the best recruiting class in college basketball history?

 

Maybe it would have been an overreaction in '98, but not in '09.

 

And, I'm not sure what roller coaster we're on...all has been good so far.

Because the last two programs he has left in college have been in trouble for NCAA violations. If you want to believe he had no knowledge of the situations you are very naive. I guess you also believe that Eddie Sutton had no knowledge of the violations at UK during his tenure and that Dwayne Casey was just a rogue Asstant coach since Eddie was cleared of any wrong doing. I guess coach Cal never flew with the players and never thought to question why Rose's Brother was on the plane. Thats right he had no knowledge he wasnt paying. Coach Call will win and win big at UK. Just wondering if the NCAA will be in town when he leaves like his other two stops.

 

Everyone was aware of this situation at Memphis and the NCAA has cleared Calipari.

 

There have been whispers and speculation about him long before this, but to date, the NCAA has yet to nail him for anything. You can look at it two ways I suppose...dwell on the speculation, or wonder how on earth a cheating coach could come out of these situations completely cleared by the NCAA.

 

As I said in a different thread, this stuff is always lurking in the back of your mind and cause for some concern, but what are we supposed to do? Treat him as if he's guilty and demand a new coach?

 

To say the honeymoon is over just seems a bit much at this point. I'm on board with Calipari until he's implicated or he gets UK in big trouble. I choose to enjoy the ride rather than be a pessimist and anxiously wait for the hammer to drop. If it does, it does. Everyone is aware of the speculation about him.

 

If you guys want to wait until something bad happens so you can say, "I told you so." That's fine. I won't lose any sleep either way.

He who is without sin, cast the first stone. The NCAA has cleared the coach in both cases and yet everyone says he is guilty. What a country! I believe in giving someone a chance to succeed.

 

Essentially what you guys who think something bad of the hiring of Coach Cal are saying is..........if you work with someone who breaks a rule (at work) you are guilty, too. Some others decided to cheat under Coach Cal, that doesn't mean he did anything wrong.
