All military men and women who answer the call of duty should be honored. It's not their decision to declare war. Simply, their obligation to answer the call should be honored.

And we have a holiday for that, though nobody seems to respect it anymore. It's November 11th, Veteran's Day.

Why because the African American Memorial is only 10 years old? They had the oppourtunity to put a wreath at the Confederate Memorial but not African American Memorial? That is not an explanation just an excuse.

 

Good move by Obama I think both memorials should be honored, as for NWO comments above, I doubt honestly the the president had any direct action in this matter it is probably by done by one of his departments or staff members who has a list of all memorials, my guess is the list has some new, old, and same memorials as the past, and probably some mistakes.

If that is the case why didn't President Clinton or President Bush's departments or staff members do the same?

Cause they probably just didnt' think to nWo. I am not sure what answer you are looking for? I am sure that if we ever have a Jewish president, they will probably send a wreath to the Holocaust Museum or something like that, which will create another tradition.

My personal goal is/was to get people talking about this. There are so many misconceptions about both sides of this war that only by bringing it to the forefront we can discuss things that have divided people all the years since it ended.

 

By having a civil discussion maybe just maybe we can hasten the end of bigotry and racism. I'm so tired of people being scared to talked about race relations.

 

My oldest son once come to me and said he wanted to buy a Confederate Flag. He said that is is craze for black people to still be upset when they see it. I agreed with him 100%. He caught some grieve from family members. I told him don't worry about that they just are used to believing the misconceptions they have heard all of their lives.

 

I might be wrong and if I've hurt anyone's feelings I want to apologize but until we really truly take time to learn about each other we are destined to keep repeating the same mistakes of the past.

I agree. Because it doesn't come with a day off work, people tend to not care about it. Very sad!

If they honor the Civil War Memorial, I don't see the need to honor any specific Civil War Memorials. To me, honoring the one is honoring all soldiers, regardless of race.

 

I have zero problem with him honoring both, but I also don't see the need to try to figure out why it hasn't been done before. If that were the case, couldn't we try to figure out why the President doesn't honor every single war memorial across the country? :idunno:
