State Rep Draud and Neighbors Try...

Featured Replies

Rep Jon Draud and his neighbors are petitioning to have the streets they live on annexed out of the Erlanger-Esmere school district and into the Kenton County school district.

They say its more convenient. EE Superintendent Sander says its about saving $500 or so per year in property tax.

Anyone besides me say its a third option??

I generally like JD, because I think he is his own man, but on this one he is clearly doing what is best only for his own interest.

Do you believe that his issue is the extra tax dollars?

I don't think it's an issue for Draud, but it is a big issue for Erlanger/Elsmere...

The news story said it was due to either convenience(Draud and neighbors story) or higher property taxes (EE Superintendent's belief).

Convenience ?? How long does it take to get from Dixie to Lloyd? 5 Minutes? 10 minutes max? Explain how these two streets are being "inconvenienced". We're not talking about Boston's situation in the 70s. I don't buy it.

Higher taxes? $500? We're talking about folks that are living in homes valued between $400k and $800k. $500 is going to be a problem???

I don't buy that either.

GT - EE is definitely a loser if this passes to the tune of about $100k per year.

What could the REAL reason be?????

Oh, I've got an idea (that obviously could never be proven).

Why do apartments in Oakley show up listed as "Hyde Park Near"?

No slam on Erlanger, but I think JD wants his property in Kenton County's school dirstrict rather than EE.

According to the article Mr. Draud wants to have the ability to have his grandchildren attend Kenton County Schools.

Let me see if I understand this. He was a superintendent where, lived where and his son went to school where?

AND NOW

His son lives where, principal where, and wants his kids to go where?

Interesting.

Bingo! We have a winner.

That's exactly what he and his neighbors want. They do NOT want to be part of the EE school system yet come up with the lame excuse of 'convenience'.

Trust me, SS. You and I cannot be the only ones that thought of the irony !

:thumb: :ylsuper: I couldn't agree with you anymore. I did have to laugh when he mentioned wanting his grandkids to attend the Kenton County

School System..His kids may have attended grade school or middle in the Kenton School District but the next kid or grandkid of his to attend a Kenton Cty School will be the first. Unless of course Highlands was moved into Kenton Cty and I wasn't aware of it. As you stated this is clearly

a very slick move by JD to benefit his own personal interest.

Had to chuckle today when I read that Scott Draud just assumed his children would go a Kenton Cty school when he bought his house and not Erlanger-Elsmere as he supposedly found out later. What person moves into a neighborhood and does not know what school district he is moving into? Especially one who happens to be a Principal at another local school district and aspires to be a superintendent in the future or so I've heard (Hopefully not in my school district). The son of a career educator who has always known exactly how to make things come out for his benefit.

As the leader of the Ludlow School district Jon Draud lived down the street from Dixie and was the boss at Ludlow and yet sent his son to Highlands. He's quoted as simply saying "It's a matter of convenience" when in reality its all about what serves the Drauds best and everything else is sort of secondary. I mean what was convenient about that? As a Superintendent I give Jon Draud high marks but as a politician you can see right thru him. He will get his way though as he has in the past. He will just make another call to the Commisioner of Education. I've already seen how that works.
