May 22, 200917 yr Thabeet is going to be awful, IMO. I think Rubio will be a much better player. I think the two steals of that mock draft's first round are Ty Lawson and Sam Young.
May 22, 200917 yr 1. Griffin 2. Thabeet 3. Jennings 4. Harden 5. Hill Any top 5 that doesn't have Rubio is wrong. He will be the best player in this class. That isn't saying much but oh well. I think Rubio will take some time, but if he's not rushed will be a nice player. Thats why the Clippers should take him. They have Baron, keep him for 2 years or whatever, let Rubio get a feel for the game and there you go. At his young age, he is still the most experienced player in this class and has been a professional since age 14. Rubio can be Pistol Pete if he gets a consistent shot. He's not the most athletic player in this class by any means, but he shows great heart and is a surprisingly good defender. I think he could develop into a top 20 player in the league, and at worst the kind of player who will atleast sell alot of tickets. I'm not sold on Griffin. I love his game, but I'm afraid he may be another Beasley. He is the more talented of the two though. He will either be a star or a bust in my mind, no way around it. Thabeet is garbage, but a few of the teams should take a look at him. If you have a decent PF, then Thabeet may be a bad pick up. He is just going to be a garbage player, but he is a giant and can block shots. I see him as a Samuel Dalembert. Harden....yikes. Not athletic at all. I like him if you have some talent around him. If you don't I don't think he translates well to the NBA. He reminds me of a smaller Paul Pierce. That's not good. Pierce is a top level NBA player because of the way he thinks the game rather than physical attributes. You just can't really predict that a 20 year old kid will have the same mental capacity. I really like Hill. I think that while he's not a star in this league, he could certainly develop into a very consistent player and maybe even a quality starter for most of his career. Jennings I just don't know about. He is an athlete and is flashy. If you're going to take him simply on his ability to make flashy plays then it is crazy not to take Rubio in front of him. Rubio is a much better playmaker, and has done it at higher levels for longer. Jennings is a better athlete, but his judgement would worry me as I don't know if I would want him to lead my team deep in the playoffs. Someone mentioned Lawson. I see too much Raymond Felton in him to take him in the top 10. Now 15-20, sure why not? He is lightening quick, but so are other PG's in the NBA. I don't know if he can consistently run the show against Deron Williams, CP3, Billups, and Co. I don't really know about Evans game. He is really kind of a tweener. He isn't really a PG, and I don't know that he has the shooting touch to be a starting 2 in the league. If you're going to be a starting 2 in the NBA, you had better have atleast two of the following qualities- size, quickness, consistent shooting, extreme athleticism, or great defense. I think he may have these qualities, but it will really be determined next year if he does/doesn't. Curry can be a nice player. He would be a nice fit around someone with a solid 1st and maybe even a 2nd option. The reason I say that is he will be a defensive liability. I think Curry can score in the NBA, though no where near 30 a game. Probably somewhere around 14-16 ppg in his prime.
May 22, 200917 yr ^ Thabeet doesnt have anywhere near Dalemberts' athleticism and that is saying something. Griffin and Beasley are different players, but I agree that Griffin is more talented.

I think Thabeet is a better prospect than Dalembert. Griffin should be better than Beasley, I just think that thier dominance in college pushed their expectations up too high.
May 22, 200917 yr ^ I do too, just different parts of their games....either way they are both garbage. Thabeet and Dalembert that is. Griffin, I think will be a great NBA player. His total package is really good. The jury is still out on Beasley as well. I think he is going to be a good player.
May 22, 200917 yr Griffin will go 1, and Rubio will go 2 IMO. The rest of the players are not that good I think. Tyreke Evans has a chance in the right system (Knicks) and maybe Jordan Hill, Thabeet will be plain awful imo.

May 23, 200917 yr Lot's of Thabeet bashing in this one. 7'3" with athleticism can make one a nice living.
May 24, 200917 yr Lot's of Thabeet bashing in this one. 7'3" with athleticism can make one a nice living. He is raw. If he has a good passion for the game and getting better, I think he could be alright. I don't get that impression from him, I think he already believes that he is Hakeem the Dream or Mutumbo.
May 24, 200917 yr Terrible, terrible draft this year. I'd look to trade if I had a high pick. :thumb::thumb::thumb:
May 24, 200917 yr Read earlier that Rubio does not want to go to Memphis, to the point where he would consider staying in Europe rather than coming over if they draft him.

His "camp" also said he doesn't want to go to Oklahoma City, who has the 3rd overall pick, either. He's wanting to go to L.A. but I just don't think that's gonna happen as they would be crazy to pass up on Griffin IMO.
