4-4 down the stretch but 1-3 vs teams in their own division, that has to be concerning.

The Giants didn't have Burress for 8 games. They were 4-4 in those games, but against the Vikings the starters sat out the entire 2nd half.

 

These were the games:

 

Giants 44 Seattle 6

Giants 37 Arizona 29

Giants 23 Redskins 7

Philly 20 Giants 14

Dallas 20 Giants 8

Giants 34 Carolina 28

Vikings 20 Giants 19 (Giants starters didn't play the 2nd half)

Eagles 23 Giants 11

 

And Bradshaw won't have to run for 150. He'll have an elite running back starting in front of him (Brandon Jacobs).

 

And I wouldn't call it a huge question mark. I'd much rather be in the Giants position than the Bengals. :lol:

It's really not. Dominik Hixon was playing injured, which explains why his production dropped off. The Giants also added Hakeem Nicks, Ramses Barden, and Travis Beckum who they very much like.

 

I think Beckum and Nicks could have an impact this year.

 

 

Not to mention the Giants defense is going to be elite this year IMO. Adding Canty, Boley, and Bernard was huge.

 

It will be interesting to see if the Giants struggle throwing the ball. I don't think they will, but it is possible. They're pretty much set everywhere else.

I think it's that he is wrong. Their defense was improved last year under a new coach. I think they finished 12th. They would have been top 10 if they had a servicable NFL QB. They addded a guy who might be able to help stuff the run and a LB that the radio guy for USC said was the best LB to come out of USC since he's been there including Seau. They also will get back their first rounder from last year who was having a good year before the injury. If Palmer is healthy and w/ a RB that was very good the last month you would think the offense improves a lot and the defense should benefit hugely from that. If they win 3 games that will be around 28th. My guess would be 7 wins or higher and that would put them higher than 28th. Good? Probably not. Terrible? Probably not.

Jacobs is very tough, but also very physical. He doesn't sit out for any old reason. And the reason the Giants didn't mind sitting him some last year was because Ward was available, as well as Bradshaw.

 

You would much rather be in the Bengals position? Really? You have to be kidding. You are in the same division as two playoff teams, one being the defending super bowl champs. You have a weak offensive line, a weak running game, a weak D-line, and a head case at WR who wants to be traded. Not to mention, and this is JMO, a bad coach. Meanwhile, the Giants have made the playoffs the past 4 years, and have won a super bowl. They have a solid O-line, a solid running game, a GREAT defense and most of all...they have a good coaching staff.

 

You can complain about injuries all you want, every team has them. I remember a few years back in 05, the Giants were picking guys up who had not played ONE DOWN in the regular season for their playoff game. Good teams play through the injuries. Heck the Pats lost Brady and still won 11 games.

 

In 2007 the Giants lost Derrick Ward, Mathias Kiwanuka, Jeremy Shockey etc, and still won the super bowl.

 

Last year the Giants lost Osi Umenyiora in the pre-season and Plax midway through the season, yet they still won 12 games.

 

I think a lot of people are forgetting how big getting Umenyiora back will be. The Giants were up near the top in sacks last year without Osi...and now he's back along with new additions to the line like Chris Canty and Rocky Bernard. The Giants d-line is going to be very scary.

With how they have played the last three years I would rank them at 28th, but I could see them finishing several spots higher. Maybe in the 18-22 range, with 7 wins.

After that, who can you rate them ahead of at this point? Tampa Bay possibly, but that's the only possibility.

 

San Francisco finished well. They have an elite RB and an improving young defense.

 

New Orleans? No.

 

Washington? No.

 

Buffalo, Jacksonville, Denver, Seattle, Carolina, etc.? No.

 

Nobody's saying the Bengals couldn't be better than some of those teams, but there's no reason to pick Cincy above them at this point.

 

Bengals fans should be happy with back-to-back solid off-seasons and the direction the team is headed. They're putting themselves in position to be much more competitive in the near future...maybe even this year if things bounce their way. Considering where they came from, I'd be happy with that.

Are you serious:confused: Bill was once a very good coach but since 1993 he is 89-79 with a playoff record of 3-5. Still good but not what you would think of Bill, he did not do much in Dallas.

He was hired in Dec and not Nov which was pretty much after the season and all the injuries. You gonna tell me not having all the injured players back did not help the Dolphins last year. Come on you guys are smarter than that.
