Totally disagree. There is no reason other than blind optimism to think the Bengals will be anywhere near the top next year. Thats the way it's been year, after year, after year, after year, after year, after year, after year, well maybe now you get it. I had season tickets until the early 90s. I saw what Mike Brown was doing and refused to blindly hand the man my money. Some get it, and some don't. HB20 gets it.

Thanks :thumb:.

I'd rate them above Chicago...how's that?

Seriously, I'm not sure what to expect. I'm anxious to see how good the defense and the D-line will be with no Haynesworth. I love the back seven.

How will Chris Johnson fare in year two? If he improves, the offense could be really good. He was shredding the Ravens last year prior to the ankle injury that sidelined him. I expect the passing game to be better. And, I think they have a top notch offensive line.

I like the offense better than the defense going into the season. I expect the offense to open up more and put more points on the board. That all hinges on Johnson being healthy and at least as good as his rookie year.

They should be right in the thick of things, but the AFC is competitive. Particularly the AFC South. They could win the division or miss the playoffs, IMO. Neither result would surprise me.

I think Chicago is rated way too high and I would place Titans around #5 at this point.

Next to nothing is very comical on your part. I used to like to read what you posted about the NFL, but your hatred for the Bengals has taken all of your creditability away and I am convinced that you don't know anything

Love or hate the gals, it is what it is... Take the blinders off. :thumb:

You're right. All those national journalists like Trent Dilfer and Tom Jackson know nothing... Its just their blind optimism leading them to think that they'll be a sleeper team this year...:thumb:

Not only have the Bengals only had 1 winning season in the past 20 years, they haven't had a winning season in the past 3 years.

Last year they were 4-11-1. In 2007 they were 7-9. In 2006 they were 8-8. Notice a trend? They keep getting worse. I don't feel like they have added anything to their team that will make a huge change this year. Getting Palmer back will help, but I don't think they have a good enough line or running game to do much on offense.

This is an organization that is consistently bad and has been for the past two decades. I agree that the last 20 years do not have a lot to do with what they will do next year. But what have they done to be ranked higher? Why in the heck should they be ranked higher? They have done next to nothing to justify moving them up higher than that right now in any rankings.

Notice a trend? In one of those years, they were one field goal away from making the playoffs... Last year, they're franchise QB was out for the year... This team isn't a bad team. With Palmer healthy, they were three posessions away from beating three playoff teams...

And the guy who is the premise of this thread has them at 28th. What'as your point?

fair or foul,

I don't completely dismiss others ideas when they talk bad about the Giants. I do not personally attack others who do not like the Giants. I will argue my butt off if someone says the Giants will be bad, but I won't tell them they "don't know anything". I believe that is a bit ridiculous. Because I disagree with you, means I don't know anything? Come on...

You saying the Bengals have done next to nothing to get better is more than a bit ridicuous. The most active I can ever remember them being in free agency this year and a great draft is next to nothing, Come on.

You may know something but just not the Bengals.

Good teams don't almost make the playoffs or almost beat playoff teams. They win those games.

The Browns beat the Giants last year, does that mean they were better than their record showed?

The Bengals were not bad last year, they were awful. I'm not sure they will be awful next year, but they will not be a playoff team IMO.

Does active always = good?

They LOST:

Stacy Andrews

Levi Jones

Glenn Holt

TJ Houshmanzadeh

Eric Ghiaciuc

Ryan Fitzpatrick

They ADDED:

Laverneus Coles

Tank Johnson

JT Osullivan

Roy Williams

Brian Leonard

While I think adding Tank Johnson was good, I think they lost a little in the swap of Coles/Houshmanzadeh. I think Roy Williams is very overrated and old, so he won't do much and the other additions aren't that great either. I think losing Stacy Andrews and Levi Jones both, hurts. It especially hurts their depth.

As for their draft, it could end up being very good, but I don't think anyone should expect rookies to come in right away and be really good starters.

I think the Bengals will end up around 6-10, or 7-9 this year.

Well the Giants better hope a couple rookies can come in and be good starters or they can be in big trouble after not having neither starting wr's from last year. Jacobs won't last a full year and Bradshaw is no Ward.

6-10 could easily be said about the Giants also with the improved Eagles

Jacobs might not last an entire year, but Bradshaw has proven he can come in and play. I'm pretty sure he lead the Giants in rushing for the 2007 playoffs. He also had over 150 yards rushing in week 16 (2007) vs the Bills. He can play, especially behind the Giants very good offensive line.

As for the wide receivers, the Giants won't be starting two rookies. They will have Dominik Hixon, who showed some flashes of being great last year before getting hurt, and Steve Smith, who also was huge in the Giants super bowl run. They also have Sinorice Moss and Mario Manningham, who should both be ready to step in this year. Hakeem Nicks has a chance of cracking the starting lineup, but I don't see him beating out Hixon or Smith in his first year. I've heard nothing but good things about him though, so who knows. Ramses Barden will probably be nothing more than a redzone target/special teams player next year. I think this is the only question mark on the Giants roster right now. Can the same be said about Cincinnati? Do they have only one question mark on their roster?

Regardless, incase you didn't notice, the Giants have one of the deepest defenses in the league. Their d-line is considered by most to be the best in the league with Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck, Mathias Kiwanuka, Chris Canty, Fred Robbins, Barry Cofield, and Rocky Bernard.

Could the Giants go 6-10 next year? Yes, it is possible. But the Giants have proven to be a pretty consistent team, making the playoffs every year since 2005. I'd say they're more likely to have a good year than Cincinnati...

That is one huge question mark. I seen how they looked without Plaxico:thumb: Bradshaw won't get 150 if the Giants can't throw the ball.

The Giants didn't have Burress for 8 games. They were 4-4 in those games, but against the Vikings the starters sat out the entire 2nd half.

These were the games:

Giants 44 Seattle 6

Giants 37 Arizona 29

Giants 23 Redskins 7

Philly 20 Giants 14

Dallas 20 Giants 8

Giants 34 Carolina 28

Vikings 20 Giants 19 (Giants starters didn't play the 2nd half)

Eagles 23 Giants 11

And Bradshaw won't have to run for 150. He'll have an elite running back starting in front of him (Brandon Jacobs).

And I wouldn't call it a huge question mark. I'd much rather be in the Giants position than the Bengals.
