He's just not getting the cars or the engines that the rest of the Hendrick drivers are getting. He's had Eury since he's been driving, for the most part, and he won his fair share before moving to Hendrick. He just doesn't need to win as much as the others since he won't lose his popularity, so there's no reason to devote as much resources to his team. He's not my favorite, but I still like him, both as a driver and as a person, and he is good for the sport. He'll get his wins at the most opportune times, whether it's when it looks like his popularity begins to suffer, or a loss of fans, etc., so you can never count him out, nor count him as anywhere but among the best of the drivers. If he thought Eury was the problem, I believe he would have already done something about it.

To think that he is not getting good equipment from HMS is crazy. Rick Hendricks has always expected all his drivers to be competitive. That's why the 25 car went thru so many drivers. He gives everyone the tools to win. It's the personel not getting the job done. I personally think it's Eury. Hendrick should have made Darien Grubb the crew chief on the 88. If he had, he wouldn't have lost him to Tony Stewart. Whatever the reason is, a major shake-up needs to happen. If Jr can't win, he won't stay popular for long. Bobby Labonte is past champion, but hasn't been competitive in years. I wonder how much he's made on T-shirt sales this year.

I didn't say he wasn't getting good equipment. I just inferred that he may not be benefitting from the available resources to the degree the other teams are, but that's only my opinoin, and we all know about opinions! :walk:

Jr's biggest problem is his equipment. He was just a couple of DNF's away from really being in the hunt last year. That seemed to be his biggest problem while he was driving for DEI, and one I thought would be gone at Hendrick. Last year when his car was on he was on, but over the past couple of years it seems as if he has a bad car better than he has a good car. I think this all leads directly back to Eury Jr. If Dale Jr. would just let ole Rick hire and supply his crew for him, then I think he would be doing a lot better. Just my take on things.

Junior's just not living up to the hype his last name carries. He is one of the top 15-20 drivers in Nascar, but when guys like Brad Keselowski can take a Hendrick motor and finish the race and Junior, once again, wrecks, whose fault is that? Tony Eury is just part of the problem, but folks need to recognize that he is not his father nor does he have his father's talent. He is getting the same grade A equipment that all the other Hendricks drivers and their affiliates(Stewart and Keselowski) are getting and he currently is the only one not in the top 10 of the Southern 500.

I bet Rick wishes he had kept Kyle Busch.......

The equipment argument is bogus. Junior gets the same stuff everybody at HMS gets, and as PurplePride said, he's the only one under-achieving. He's just not a good driver. It's that simple.

Not saying equipment as a whole because obviously Henrick puts out some of the best cars in the sport. My argument is I don't think Eury Jr. and his crew know how to get these cars set up not only to last a whole race, but to drive to juniors standards.

I would agree that is a big part of the problem as well. I would like to see how Junior would do under a crew chief appointed by Hendricks.

They still make a ton of money off him and if he wins occasionally cool.

He is just not very good, period.

Based on what? I just don't agree that someone who has 18 career wins is "just not very good." To base his entire career on this season's results doesn't make much sense, especially only 10 races in.

He finished 16th in 2007, 12th in 2008 and is 18th after eleven races this year. He really needs to turn things around fast or people will start giving up on him. I think he better get a new crew chief or he will end up with less than 20 total carrer wins.
