Estill County open again???

Featured Replies

I just read that Estill Co. is taking applications for Head Football Coach as of April 30, 2009.

Any insight on this situation?

True, Coach Luttrell resigned due to health conditions and we wish him the best. We are disappointed that he will not be our Coach. The job is open again and I am sure Coach Luttrell would have nothing but good things to say about the program, boosters and administration in Estill Co. This is a great opportunity for a coach to step into a program and and continueto build on a solid foundation!

I don't remember reading, but why did Coach Jones leave after this past season?

He resigned to spend more time with his kids.

Does anyone know what type of health problems Luttrell has?

Can anyone shed some light on the administration, support for football, and the facilities at Estill?

The adm., support and facilities are fine. It is probably a hidden gold mine for a good coach! A new $100,000 weight room is only about 6 or 7 years old.

It was $275,000 and is weight room, locker room, bathrooms and concesions.

I hate to hear this.

Hope you get well soon, John!

Pretty good facilities and Jones has established a good foundation. Would be a nice job to step into. Feeder program is solid as well. Although they really need to upgrade the visiting side bleachers.

ANy word on who might step in?

I heard that it might be a defensive coordinator from a lexington area team.

The weight room and locker rooms must be really impressive. The concessions were housed in an old trailer lookin caboose in the end zone and they had the worst visitors stands that I've ever seen. If they were able they couldn't have held over 75 people but since they were about to fall down almost all of our fans had to stand up. Also the field was in horrible shape with sod ran over the bare spots and in the rain it only lasted a few plays. I understand the little league, middle school and JV teams all play on the one field. It was a mess. Their training facilities might be top notch but their game day facilities leave much to be desired.

The concessions are actually connected to the locker room, the caboose was the youth football league selling concessions. Other than that you are correct, bleachers have gotten in rough shape, youth league, middle school, jv, varsity, as well as girls and boys soccer use the field during the fall. The field needs some serious care.
