Yankees Already Cut Ticket Prices

What do you think of this? Baseball tonight was just saying they don't plan to offer anything refund wise for those who already bought the tix at the original price. Instead they will double there amount of tix bought. (For ex. if John Doe owns 3 seats he will now own 6.)

Season ticket holders are less than happy with this and a couple threatening to sue. It'll be very fun to see how it all plays out in Yankee land.:sssh:

Could it get any better?

Did you see some of those prices of tickets??? And I complain when I go to GABP!

Probably plays out the same as it did last year...Yankees will lead the league in attendance and generate more stadium revenues than every other team in the league.

Attendence is down in baseball everywhere, folks. The recession is hurting attendence numbers for almost every team in baseball so if lowering premium ticket prices puts more butts in seats and generates revenue, then why not?

Of course the fact that their own season ticket holders are going to sue them and their current managment looks like morons means nothing either does it? If it works out like last season they'll be watching the playoffs on television and looking for a new manager. As for attendence being down everywhere the Red Sox are at 481 sellouts in a row and counting--they are already sold out for the rest of the year.

I'm not going to argue with you... when season ticket holders sue the Yankees, you can post the link. :thumb:

Here are the facts on attendance:

Now that you have the facts; as I said: attendance is down due to the recession and almost every team has had trouble.

Those morons running the Yankees will still manage to outdraw every team in the majors and generate more stadium revenue (and overall revenue) than every other team in the majors.

Yankees ended their skid tonight; maybe we get it turned around or maybe we lose out- who knows? Congrats to the Red Sox on both streaks (current winning and sellouts); it is an acomplishment to do what they have done both on and off the field.

I agree the economy has hurt baseball. I know it's a business move but I think it's good for Americas moral. A lot of folks need somewhere to go to enjoy an event to take their mind of the tough times. If slashing ticket prices does that then I applaude them. I can see why ticket holders are upset. I also think they could put them on stubhub etc and end up getting their season tickets cheaper if they are smart enough to go that route.

The Yankees may average more fans per game but if you filter and rank by percentage they only rank 6th in the league at 85% capacity. That is with a brand spanking new stadium.......:sssh:

:puke: Yankees

Only one way to improve this quote, add more puke guys!

That is true, of course if our stadium only held 37,400 (Fenway's capacity in 2008) our sell-out streak would be much longer than 481 games. We have averaged at least that amount since 1999 (and continue to do that this year). We have been drawing 3 miilion fans a year since 1999. 4 million a year since 2005.

6th out of 30 is still better than 80% of the teams in the league, right? That is in a recession with us stinking up the joint on the field. I can only imagine what attendence and revenues will look like if we get this thing turned around! :thumb:

And the Red Sox would also be selling more than 37,400 per game if there was space available......So now better than 80% of teams is good enough for the Yankees? I thought it was all about titles there. If they aren't first they are last. That's always been the Yankees way. I guess George must really not have much to do with the everyday running of the team if being in the top 1/5 of the league in anything is good enough for the Yankees.

I can't quantify how many more seats the Sox would fill; the attendence number are what they are.

It is about championships...it is also about business. The "morons" that run the Yankees handle making money better then every other team in the league. I am sure they want to be better in terms of attendence, but let's not go crazy spinning this into more than what it is.

The recession stinks! This is hurting the Yanks more than their ticket prices. I only have to look at the Mets for proof of that. They are having the same attendence issues in the same city with the same new ball park situation and they stink too, only they have cheaper ticket prices. So, it is what it is.

BTW, I heard the Sox lost a tough one, sorry about that. Cleveland has a tough offense; we found that out the hard way. Good luck with the rest of the series! :D
