I'm not advocating Rosales playing everyday, but neither hitter has had anything resembling success in the majors. Rosales is a .207 hitter in 29 at-bats. Janish is hitting .211 in 90 at-bats. However, Rosales has proven much more as a hitter on the minor league level than Janish. And, when you have this many guys not hitting, why not bring a guy up who is on fire? I mean lets face it, Rosales should of came north out of spring training. He can play 2nd and 3rd, why not bring him up and let him get some AB's. If nothing else, to show the lazy ones they are replaceable. I can't really understand why the Reds have six OF's and not counting 1B, only four INF's. It's funny that there isn't really anyone else to play 2B or 3B on this Team to push BP and EE and they are two that aren't producing, nor hustling. Edited April 27, 200917 yr by Baseballguy

He would have climbed thru the farm system a lot quicker than he did if the Reds thought he was a top prospect Bottom line ... you're trying to compare the early careers of Janish and Gonzalez, and they're not comparable. Gonzalez was good enough to make the major leagues at age 21. Janish was four years behind. Nevermind the fact that Janish went to college (for 4 years) and won a national title. I understand the age comparison, but I don't think it's fair to hold attending college against someone. We may disagree on that, though.
