Yet you want to give Rosales, a guy who has had even less MLB success than Janish, a shot to play everyday?

None of those questions apply to what I asked.

 

I'd have no problem with Rosales or Janish replacing Edwin or Gonzalex for a short period of time. Neither Rosales or Janish is the long-term answer. Neither is Gonzalex. Edwin may or may not be capable.

I don't think anyone thinks any of those 4 are the long term answers at those positions for the Reds. At least I hope not. The reason for me why I don't want Gonzo replaced is his D. You guys keep saying Janish is comparable to him in the field but I just don't see it. Give Janish the at bats Gonzo has and I doubt he even has the prodctuion we have seen from Gonzo. Janish has proven at ever level he isn't very good with a bat in his hand. Rosales is probably at least euqal to E-5 in the field and who knows at the plate right now.

Lost in these debates are how important the Reds' early season success truly is.

 

The Reds play a significant amount of games against NL Central opponents early in the season. If they can string together another solid week against the Lastros & Pirates, I'll be very, very pleased. :thumb:

By no means do I want Rosales to play everyday, I think he would be more useful on this team for spot starts and as a PH than Janish. Hairston can get time at SS once a week when Gonzo gets an off day. That why we can rotate the outfielders as well.

Oswalt makes 14 Mil a year. Wow I had no idea he made that much. He is good don't get me wrong but he has only won more than 15 games once the lats 3 years. Seems like he is on the downside of his career possibly. That's a lot of jack. I wonder when that contract was signed. His ERA has gone up the past 4 years in a row and so far it is likely to be 5.

Throughout Janish's 5 seasons in the minors, he has posted a .261 average with 32 HR, 207 RBI, 34 SB, 210 BB compared to 293 K and an OBP% of .349.

Gonzalez's 7 season minor league career (which includes brief stints in 2000 (A league), 2002 (Rookie league) & 2006 (AAA)), he hit .267 with 31 HR, 164 RBI, 82 BB compared to 231 K, and an OBP% of .320.

In Gonzalex's 1st MLB season (where he got 86 AB's), he hit .151 with 3 HR, 9 BB & 30 K in 98 plate appearances.

 

Janish had a very similar start to his career:

.188 batting avg., 1 HR & 6 RBI in 80 AB's (89 Plate appearances) with 7 BB compared to 18 K's.

How many times do I have to explain things to you? Do you read just part of my post? It's really getting old. I know Rosales isn't the long term solution at 3B. Encarncion has shown no improvement though, and his laziness just makes matters worse. He needs a jolt to the system to either wake him up, or give up. Having Rosales replace him could be the wake up he needs. Gonzo gets a little break for his slow start because he is coming back from a year out of baseball. He has shown signs the past two weeks of starting to hit. He has not shown any signs of being lazy. If I saw effort from E-5 I might be more willing to give him a break. Go back and look at the Reds threads the past two years. I hav been one of E-5's biggest supporters. Spindoc will attest to that. I can not stand lack of effort though, and that is what I see from Encarnacion. Get Rosales bat up here while he is hot, and let's see what he can do.
