April 30, 200917 yr He didn't come right out and say the go on contact play was on, but he talked about what a great 1st game Rosales had, how impressive he had been in spring training and Louisville, and how he expected him to continue to play well. They also talked to Rosales after the game, and in the locker room. He would have mentioned it if he had made a baserunning mistake. You could also tell from just watching the game, and watching the reaction from the 3rd base coach during the play. The runner on 2nd was also breaking on contact on the play. :thumb: Fair enough.

If it takes a bad hop or gets by the 3rd baseman the run scores. They got the runner out at home so they were left w/ 1st and 3rd. Taveras was on 1st. He stole so they then had 2nd and 3rd w/ 2 outs w/ the fastest runner on the team (possibly all of MLB) on 2nd. He should score on any hit that reaches the outfield.

If you think it was a mistake it was on the play not the player. I'm not a big fan of Dusty but they ended up w/ a guy on 2nd and 3rd w/ two outs. The guy on 2nd could be the fastest guy in all of baseball. It isn't that big of a deal.

I do agree, Nix should get some more playing time. That said, not tonight. Duke is a pretty good lefty and in 5 AB's against lefties this year, Nix is 0-5 with four K's.

The paper said he was a right hander, I didn't know, just going by what it said. If he is a lefty I can see Hairston playing.
