April 27, 200917 yr Prayers are sent to you Birdsfan. I'm praying all goes well and you can breathe without assistance once again.
April 28, 200917 yr Author Just getting ready to go to bed before the big day, and wanted to thank everyone who is praying and/or sent messages of support. Tomorrow is just sort of the first round, but it's still a big step. The appointment is at 1 P.M. Have to share a funny story before I go (always leave 'em laughing). This morning, I went to the Newport Aquarium with a dear friend of mine and her two kids. There is one area of the tour where you enter an aviary. That's a place they let birds fly around. In this case, they were Lorakeets -- kind of like large, colorful parakeets. You can actually feed these Lorakeets with little cups of sugar water. Anyway, there are simulated trees in the enclosure, and the birds are all over them, as well as any other spot they can find to roost. One of the birds was even sitting on a little branch that was right over our heads along the path. I was the first to notice this guy, and made sure to warn each of my three companions about the hidden danger, so they wouldn't get "dumped" on. At one point, I felt a rush of air over my head and saw something dark swoop in from above. It was a different Lorakeet, coming in to be fed, and just missing my skull in the process. I was a little spooked by that incident, but it was soon forgotten. We went on watching the kids feed the birds. Eventually, their food cups went dry and it was time to move on. Just as we were about to exit the enclosure, I felt a huge splash on my left shoulder. I looked over and witnessed the damage. Yep...guess who forgot about the overhead stalker with the incontinence problem! :ohbrother: How that much fluid can come out of one little bird is beyond me! But, how's that for irony; the only one who got pooped on during the entire bird experience, was the "Birds" fan. :irked: Thinkin' of changing my user name to "Birdsotherthanlorakeetsfan." Might be a bit too wordy though; don't ya think? :idunno: I'll keep you posted tomorrow. :thumb:

I am now years later convinced that thing was a terrorist working for Al Queda, it took a while to recover from the concussion I suffered from the direct hit. Best of luck today and as always prayers ared with you my friend.

April 28, 200917 yr Author I'm back..and I can breathe better than when I left for the appointment! Everything went even better than expected. I know your prayers are responsible for that fact. The doctor was going to wait for me to try to lose more weight, then put another trach in, before doing the final sleep study. But I flashed him the big, sad puppy dog look  and he agreed to go straight to the sleep study. Although he's still thinking I may not be ready for that yet. If it works, out comes the trach for good. If not, it will just mean it wasn't quite time yet. The other good news is that I was able to lose six more pounds. That will help things along too. Oh and get this: My very favorite respiritory therapist, who has been with me in the darkest of times, "just happened" to be sitting there, waiting for her own appointment. She kept me entertained, calm, and reassured during the wait. Now...you tell me prayer isn't powerful!!! :ylsuper:
