I think Al Gover was named the coach today.

Was that a good hire for them? I remember when he was coach before and wasnt too successful.

I think there were better hires out there, but the economy and lack of teaching spots makes him very attractive to come back. Plus, his nephew is at Somerset and was their best JV player as a 7th grader. Bet Luid has him at PC before long now.

Why does Pulaski keep recycling their former coaches?

Why does Pulaski keep recycling their former coaches?

Who else have they recycled of their own coaches? :idunno:

They have had several former Somerset (Cain, Johns, Gover) coaches over there and Somerset has had at least one former Maroon (Hurt) coach that coached at SHS after leaving PC.

Fraley and Gover. And the linked story said they did it with a girls' coach at one time, too.

Hurt was at PC, then Somerset boys, then PC girls again

I would say that there is a good chance that this was a package deal.

I understand that the "OLD" coach was very upset last week about something out there, concerning the basketball team.

Hard to believe that Pulaski County hasn't won a 12th Region title since 1992. Seventeen years is a long time for perhaps the biggest school in the region. But keep on recycling, PC!:thumb:

Actually, they haven't even been the biggest school in the COUNTY for several years. For awhile Southwestern played 4A football while PC was 3A. Southwestern is still quite a bit larger.

When was the last time GCHS won the region in anything?

But they are at the top of the list, with Southwestern, Lincoln and perhaps Mercer. With that being said, Pulaski should at least be a regular contender for the 12th Region crown, something they haven't been in some time.

I'll assume your are talking basketball (although we could mention a softball title last year along with three team tennis titles in four years) and say never. Of course that isn't something that is oft-expected for the the 10-12th biggest school in the region that was playing in the All "A" Classic less than ten years ago.

And realistically, I simply stated Pulaski should have more basketball success and be drawing more quality applicants based on their enrollment. GCHS was never mentioned.
