April 28, 200917 yr Well put, counselor. You runnin' the grill any time soon? Yes, as soon as I can find a good cut of beef. Fellow steak snobs are, of course, invited.
April 28, 200917 yr Different strokes for different folks. At least Hearsay comes clean and admits that he's a food snob. Where I tend to disagree with him is with the "a right way and a wrong way of cooking". Seems to me that's up to the person doing the eating. God made brussel sprouts and rhubarb, but that doesn't mean that I'm gonna eat them. I think the debate, sometimes even heated, over proper methods of cooking is what gives challenge and merriment to dining. People have debated the proper method of cooking barbeque and chili for a hundred years, and that does not seem to give offense. Millions of housewives every year commit what I consider to be heresy by over-boiling ears of corn. Boiled corn is certainly edible and sustaining. But picked off the stalk in late June or July, lightly salted and brushed with butter and then grilled, in the husk, over the hottest possible fire is ambrosia from the gods.
April 28, 200917 yr That is great but when in a hurry remove the husk, butter, salt and wrap in Saran Wrap them microwave till hot. Corn maintains it's texture and tastes better then boiled IMVHO.

Nothing better than grilled corn on the cob in the summer.
April 28, 200917 yr I haven't read the whole thread so i don't know if I am alone in this. But I really ruin a steak. I am not a big steak guy, so I have to put ketchup on it......yes ketchup.
April 28, 200917 yr Nothing better than grilled corn on the cob in the summer. Won't be long now. Corn, tomatoes (sliced and sprinkled with cider vinegar), green beans, cucumber salad, potato salad, grilled meat and seafood. Tried grilled artichokes earlier this year and they were wonderful. I love the summer and I love summer suppers.

My opinion is to grill your steak how you or your guests like it. Use A-1, ketchup or nothing at all. It's all about your own taste. I would never tell someone not to use salt or pepper at the table.

April 28, 200917 yr Perhaps because you haven't discovered how good it is when cooked right? :sssh: Perhaps. I am told steak is usually better when it's not cooled as long as say, a hamburger. I am a rookie when it comes to that.

Sounds like me and GT can help you out in that arena. We can arrange that this summer, if you like. Since the weather's been nice, I've been grilling out 3-4 days a week, so I'm on my game. He does OK too, from what I can recall (it's tough to, as the booze sometimes clouds the memory ).

I did not realize GT was a steak connoisseur. That sounds like a plan. We will defiantly have to meet up sometime.
April 29, 200917 yr Just had a nice t-bone today. No A1 with it, very good. That's my one exception with A1, if it has a bone in it no A1 is necessary. Plenty of flavor already there.
