This is what I am Looking for. History and since these recruits today have been watching. Lets be honest, kids today do not really care much about any history. Basketball or otherwise. Most recruits today could be at a Rafferty's and not know that they are having lunch with Joe B. and Denny. They do not know who they are!

Maybe the kids you know. The ones I know , they know exactly who they are. :sssh:

By current conditions do you mean this year? Pitt has been to one Elite 8 since 1974 (I think that's what I saw) and UCLA was in three straight Final Fours before this year. The two aren't even close. For some reason people think of Pitt as some national powerhouse, not the case.

I just don't measure a program on wins alone. You have to looking at coaching staffs. Success of kids in the classroom. Support of the of the University.

I do agree that UCLA is 5a. and Pitt imo would be 6.

I don't either, but I do measure a basketball program based on all things related to basketball. The "better" the job, not more pressure IMO. I disagree with a lot of what some UK fans have to say, but when you step back and take a look at the whole picture, it is a Top 5 job no doubt in my mind.

Yeah, but I bet those kids aren't being recruited by major D-I colleges to play basketball.

So you think that Daniel Orton, Tyreke Evans, Peyton Siva could pick those guys out of a crowd? I am not talking about kids here in the state.

Yeah, but I bet those kids aren't being recruited by major D-I colleges to play basketball.

And neither are the kids you would be talking about. At least the ones I'm talking about are in that age group. :thumb:

UK is not #1 right now but it is still a top job.

I would include UK, UNC, Duke, UCLA, Kansas, Indiana

These are the top as far as tradition. I know Indiana is down but they will be back with Crean as coach.

Tradition be darrned since 1990, what are the top programs?

Duke

UNC

Michigan State

UConn

UK

Kansas

I guess: Florida, Arizona, Syracuse, and Oklahoma could all be part of the discussion as well.

I think you have to include the teams that I mentioned above (UK, UNC, Duke, UCLA, Kansas, Indiana) and you can add these as programs that are near at the top each year.

UConn

Michigan State

Arizona

Louisville

If they continue could be added:

Oklahoma

Texas

Florida

Pittsburgh

You'd have to include much more since 1990.

UNC 2 Titles and six more Final Fours

UK 2 Titles and 2 other Final Fours plus 3 Elite Eights

Duke 3 Titles and 4 other Final Fours

Louisville does not even have a Title and only 1 Final Four since 1990. Don't know how they belong in the discussion at all.

I had UNC, UK, Duke and three others in my above post.

Sorry, was only looking at the one post, did not make the connection to the other. My bad. :isurrender:

Because it is Louisville, Denny Crum and Rick Pitino they belong in the discussion.

Well then that's the end of that.
