March 24, 200917 yr Why hasn't Mitch Barnhart or President Todd said anything about the rampant rumors about BCG? That is the question that keeps running through my head. I don't think BCG's product has been bad enough for him to be fired after just 2 seasons and most of the rumors about Coach have been rebuffed and shown to be untrue. So why haven't they publicly said anything about BCG's future at UK? Do you think that there are some truth to the rumors? Do you think that Mitch and Todd don't like his PR skills? Do you think is off court persona isn't what either want as the face of UK? Are the trustees fed up with BCG? There are a possible hundred reasons why neither has said anything. I want to hear what you guys think.
March 24, 200917 yr It makes me wonder also and IMO. Very unprofessional for Tood and Barnhart not to put an end to the specualtion of rumors, I mean back your man, they hired him, now support him while he is here. I know his personality may not be what everyone wants but other than the two flare ups with the ESPN reporter and the Leach incident, what has he done to warrant such a firing if it is related to PR only. He is always answering questions on the news (local) very professional. I just don't see what other incidents could be warranted for a firing. I scratch my head.
March 24, 200917 yr Maybe because there is nothing to be said. UK has a head coach and will continue to have the same one next year. Edited March 24, 200917 yr by HammerTime
March 24, 200917 yr Maybe because there is nothing to be sad. UK has a head coach and will continue to have the same one next year. Do you believe that?
March 24, 200917 yr Maybe because there is nothing to be sad. UK has a head coach and will continue to have the same one next year. You don't think they should be returning the phone calls of the incoming recruits who want to be reassured what's going on?
March 24, 200917 yr You don't think they should be returning the phone calls of the incoming recruits who want to be reassured what's going on? That is what they would be doing if they weren't going to have a coaching change.
March 24, 200917 yr They did say something, that his annual evaluation will come at the end of the year.
March 24, 200917 yr That is what they would be doing if they weren't going to have a coaching change. That's the one thing that really leads me to believe that a change is a very realistic possibility. The main reason I don't want to see Gillispie go is because it likely means no Dom Ferguson in 2010, and that kid is going to be a superstar.
March 24, 200917 yr You don't think they should be returning the phone calls of the incoming recruits who want to be reassured what's going on? Who reported that, that happened?
March 24, 200917 yr They did say something, that his annual evaluation will come at the end of the year. Right, but why not tell the recruits families that they have nothing to worry about, Gillispie will be back?
March 24, 200917 yr The main reason I don't want to see Gillispie go is because it likely means no Dom Ferguson in 2010, and that kid is going to be a superstar. I want him too, but it may be best in the long run to go ahead and make the change. Hopefully the next coach (should it happen) can talk Dom into staying.
March 24, 200917 yr Who reported that, that happened? The parents of all 3 (GJ, Orton, and Hood) were on the news talking about how they had placed calls in to Barnhart () wanting to know what the situation was with Gillispie, and that he has not returned any of their calls....
March 24, 200917 yr Right, but why not tell the recruits families that they have nothing to worry about, Gillispie will be back? Maybe they hope that they don't listen to the 300,000 opinions in KY. I honestly don't think they even know whats going to happen. They are going to talk to him, say this is the direction we wanna go are you on board... yes or no?
