Democrats wanted Bush to fail back in 2001

Featured Replies

Rush has repeatedly said that he disagrees with O's policies and since O's goal is to get his policies in place, yeah, Rush and any of those that disagree with his policies would want him to fail.

In any actions that he takes to make abortions more commonplace in this country I hope he falls flat on his face failing to do that.

Rush isn't talking about his abortion stance.

So were Carville's comments also inexcusable?

This is honestly a surprise that comments made minutes before the 9/11 attacks went unreported? Really? They are as dumb as Rush's, but they were news after the planes struck the towers and Pentagon? Really?

Liberal media? Conservative propaganda? At what point to we all simply concede that Americans are dumb. Collectively. At least I will admit out front that people are morons. But, it seriously hugs the line of retardation.

Partisans tell us we elected Bush because Americans are idiots. Partisans tell us we elected Obama because Americans are idiots. At what point do we realize it is the partisans who have the most to gain from the stupefying of politics in America? Honestly, look at every political advertisement from either side of the aisle and tell me there is a shred of truth to what they profess. Ideas are not debated anymore. Only labels. This is what we have come to? Do primary sources have no value any longer? Can we only debate what is framed for us by the partisans, who have the most to gain?

He recently (2.13.09) said on a show "I hope it prolongs the failure. I hope it prolongs the recession."

That's different than saying "I hope his policies don't work." You can (maybe) write that off as a philosophical debate. Saying you hope the recession is prolonged means people suffer.

Inexcusable.

I was referring to Skinpig. As to Rush, he's got you hook line and sinker if you truly believe that he meant what he said about prolonging the recession. He's a blowhard trying to make a buck by stirring things up.

There's really not much different in the two other than the media storm about one and the silence about the other. Interesting, don't you think?

I don't listen to Rush and don't like giving him any consideration. I put him and Keith Olberman and others in the same consideration. We would be better off with them off the air.

I don't think either comment was inexcusable as it's just politics as usual. Hoping the opponent's candidate fails is a long time tradition in the USA.

Do you really think they would have gone unreported for so long if the roles were reversed? For them not to come out in some form at some point before now is a stretch to me in this age of 24/7 news.

I for one do not believe that Americans are dumb, but uninformed or not taught to make their own decisions based on their beliefs. And this is from a guy who at times wondered how many former students would ever make it in the world. What I came to learn is that as students leave school they will find what they are interested in and grow in that area they have chosen. For some that is as soon as they school and for others it may take 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 years, but the vast majority figure it out eventually.

As far as voting went, this is what I told them at year's beginning, we are going to learn about the past and mix it with current events. We would look at the current topics and individuals in the news and hopefully each student would began to understand how we got to the point we are in today and see which current leaders best represented their points of view. All this was done so that when they went vote, I really hope, they would be informed and not just swayed by a bumper sticker slogan. What I was hoping for was some maturity, knowledge and life experiences to help them to make an informed decision. I hope it sunk in.

One of the things that I liked about Ronald Reagan was his postive outlook on the individual talents of all Americans. We should help those in true need, but let government get out of the way and not provide obstacles to American's abilitiy to acheive.

This is true, however we must have some pretty brilliant and hard working people mixed in also to become the strongest nation in the world in a shade over 2 centuries. Everyone else has had nearly a 2 millenium head start and they are playing catch up.

Fair question. Do you think the media would not have reported it if 9.11.01 was just any other day in America?

So were Carville's comments also inexcusable?

Absolutely.

When any side says "I hope (the other) fails" and they try to hide it under the guise of political philosophy they're lying. Period.

Think about what they're saying. They only want success if it accomplished THEIR way. I want success anyway we can get it. Rush and Carville are both saying that they will hope for failure in order to get their guy back in the White House in 4 years. They're willing to let this country and its citizens fail and take all of the negative consequences that come with it if the tradeoff is their political antithesis losing office.

We're OK with that?

I'm not.

I for one do .

Interesting. Any opinion on why it is just now coming out, after the Limbaugh storm?
