Re-signing Benson is exactly what I would have done and I think the Bengals are solid at the RB position and do not need to address it in the draft.

 

As I mentioned as soon as Coles became available I liked the idea of him playing for the Bengals. Call it a gut feeling but I really like this signing and I prefer Coles over TJ. I am not anti-TJ but I believe the offense can be better with Coles.

 

I am feeling better but I am not healed. The Bengals need to spend some jack on a quality back up QB that can finish a game or play for a couple weeks if Palmer gets dinged up and give the Bengals a realistic chance to win. All things considered I like Grossman.

 

The Bengals need to address FB. FB was a huge problem last year and re-signing Johnson isn't the solution because he has let himself go (he looks more like a DT these days). Hopefully they can sign a FA FB so we don't have to deal with that in the draft either.

 

We need depth on the OL at both T and C. I would like to see this addressed in the draft and maybe sign Ghiaciuc to the league minimum as a back up center.

 

Furthermore, I think the Bengals still need a lot of help putting pressure on the passer. If everyone is healthy and guys like Sims and Shirley continue to develop the Bengals may not be in too bad of shape here. However, they need to take the best player(s) available in the draft that will help them pressure the passer. With Odom and Geathers getting big money I am not sure we will see any high dollar DE signings but a DT that would command double teams would be fantastic.

 

Finally on defense I feel really good about the DB/S positions.

They can line up 11 pro-bowlers on offense, and they will still be mediocre with Bratkowski calling the plays. I won't be too excited about the offense until he is gone. His play calling has become predictable since the '05 season.

I agree with everything you have said. But I think that Sims could be that DT that gets double teamed and I think the jury is still out on Odom who never got going after getting injured. Even more important than these signings is that everyone stays healthy, that killed the Bengals last year.

They must get a tackle with the first pick in the draft then go center and a late FB.

I think they can get their OT in the draft or pass rusher which ever route they go. They need both. The defense is getting better. They need help on both lines and a pass rusher. I don't think they are as far as many think. Still can't believe they missed out on 2 1's for CJ! They would be loaded with those picks!

I really don't get why some people would even joke about trading Palmer. The whole he hasn't been the same is not that true. The team around him though has not been the same. I mean in 06 the year after his ACL he made the pro bowl and was pro bowl MVP. Plus he led them on drives the last couple of games that should have got them in the playoffs, but special teams screwed up. In 2007 he had no running game and defense still sucked. Now last year he definitely didn't start out that great, but as we seen the offense was just bad last year especially the offensive line.

 

The Bengals have a franchise QB that they can build around, you don't trade the guy.

I don't think the Bengals need to overhaul at all. However, they do need all the pieces to come together like they did in 05.

Im obviously not a Bengals fan, but this is a priority to challenge for the division. Considering at the top lies a qb with little protection and the number 2 has a second year qb.

When I first saw this thread I was thinking Mike Brown had finally decided to step down. So glad I am not a season ticket holder anymore for them.

Carson is not the problem. Protecting him is. If they trade Palmer they may lose every season ticket purchase.
