Highlands is definitely a tough match up for Boone. The only person who might be able to handle Grubbs inside will be Cotton. Earls will fold up like a lawn chair if he has to guard Grubbs. I think Boone will look better against Highlands than they did against Beechwood. They do need someone to step up and hit some shots because their offensive rebounds and stick backs were a big part of their win against Beechwood. I don't think they will get as many of those chances against Highlands. Shumate put together the game plan to beat Boone. Beechwood just fell a little short and did not have the depth to pull it off with Romes hurting.

I agree for the most part. Boone will need to do some things differently in the next game. However, although Cotton has the hops to block some of Grubbs shots, he doesn't have the frame to prevent from being pushed around inside by the big guy. I think Trevan Brown on Boone might be the best person to guard Grubbs. Earls is stronger on offense than defense.

34% is good for high school.

Doubt it, IMO Beechwood played pretty poorly. The Tigers didn't shoot the ball well.

 

I am going to disagree with this. I think Beechwood played very well. When you play a team like Boone County, you don't get the easy shots so you may look like you struggle shooting. I think Pohlgeers and Snyder played great all around games. This may have been Pohlgeers best game of the year. Smith did exactly what Shumate wanted out of him playing big on D and rebounding. A couple more free throws would have been nice but Smith played one of his best games of the year also. Beuttel did his thing and was very solid, hitting some very tough shots against Boone's excellent defense. Romes was hurt and did the best he could. Hall was solid off the bench. Who on Beechwood didn't play well?

The average 3 point shooting percentage in NCAA D1 has been 34 to 35 percent over the last several years. Based on that, I think 34 to 35 percent must be considered pretty good for a high school player.

He is also a college player, not a high school player. I think you can lower it some for high school players.

40% or higher from 3 point is considered a pretty darn good shooter. Everyone has their own opinion and are entitled to it.
