A 3rd place in the East would be 1st game against Ark and if a win probably Auburn. 2 winable games in tourney.

Here is merely one example of why Lunardi is a hack outside of getting it right on Selection Sunday (something most of us could do if we were getting 6 figures a year and that was your only job). Before UC played WVU they were the last team out. Beat Top 25 RPI WVU and they fall two spots. Get crushed by Cuse and they only fall two more spots. At this point he's guessing the same as everyone else, and not doing a good job of it when you put any of this fodder before selection Sunday...

Does he do it based on if the selection were that day? Who do you think does better ones? It's hard to argue that he's pretty good on selection Sunday. What's the worst he's ever missed? Ie..did he ever have someone as a 10 seed and they missed the dance?

The big thing about Lunardi is that his job is overblown and he is seen as some sort of a soothsayer. When it comes down to it, there are about 7 or 8 teams on the bubble, and half of those will get an invite. 57-58 of the teams are either automatic qualifiers or no-brainers. I am convinced we could do the same thing here at BGP. If Lunardi has UK as a 10 seed, then he believes they are firmly on the bubble... which we all believe.

As a 10-seed, I think that means they have work to do but aren't in, say, Notre Dame's shoes at this point. In other words, if there was a cliff, Tennessee would be standing on top, Kentucky would be losing balance near the edge, Florida would be holding onto a tree limb that they caught after falling and Notre Dame would be trying to get their parachute to open.

If there are half of 8 getting in and he only misses 1 or 2 he does pretty well though right?

I think I heard that the most he has ever missed was 3 in one tournament (or something like that). Last season, he was one of the few that had the Cats in.

I don't think he's missed 3 in a long time. Last year I believe it was 1. It is easy to identify the bubble teams by next week, but still missing 1 isn't shabby. My biggest question really was has he ever had someone as a 10 seed or better actually be left out? If he has UK as a 10 next week I would feel pretty good about their chances.

I really feel that if they go 2-2 before the Selection Show, they're in. Anything better and they're a lock. Anything worse and we're going to the NIT.

Probably so. Florida is basically a play in game, IMO. However, they can win a few games in the SEC tourney and be fine, even if they lose.

As of now, you'd have to put UK in ahead of Florida...they're virtually even and UK owns the head-to-head win. But, its irrelevant since they play again and that game will decide which of these two are in.

If UK loses @ Florida, I think they have to at least advance to the SEC Finals to get in. I don't think two wins will get it done.

WKU is in as a 13 seed right now, but I can see them getting as high as a 12 just depends on how he commitee looks at the whole season. People dont forget that their are other schools in this state besides UK and UofL, by the way WKU is a lot closer to UK and UofL then they are to the OVC schools. Nothing against those schools just saying, good luck to all KY schools in the NCAA.

A lot of people are counting on a win or two in the SEC tourney, but I'm not so sure. Looks like we're either going to get Arkansas, Ole Miss, or Alabama--depending on where we finish. And there's a very real possibility that one SEC win means a game against LSU or Mississippi State. It just doesn't look good. I know a lot of people are looking for the silver lining, but you really need binoculars to see it.

If it ended today, a win would get us a game against Auburn.

Memphis has a great strategy. They play a tough schedule early and win a few games. They may lose 3-5 games, but they still pick up some quality wins. Then, they play in a crappy conference and avoid upsets. The next thing you know, they are a 1-2 seed and ranked in the top 10.

Yeah it's called palying in conference USA. They would have more than 1 loss in the SEC this year. UK can't use that strategy. They need to do better scheduling, but they don't need a whole lot mroe than UL, UNC, and IU as far as huge programs go.

That's what I'm saying about Memphis. They'd be a good but not great team in the ACC or Big East.
