You have to laugh a little at all the complaints: at Mason they clear the gym and charge $5 each game; games are spread over 2 days with a 5:30 start time; long drive for MC and GRC; at BOK - $8 and you can see all the games in one day, still a long drive for MC and GRC and probably more; Mason and a few others didn't want to give up the tradition of the fieldhouse, or complained that Montgomery wouldn't hold everyone; the BOK will certainly hold everyone; but no tradition; Mason didn't want to drive to Montgomery; it is certainly a drain on the schools that have both boys and girls playing in the region when they are at different locations. Basically there is no way to satisfy everyone in the 10th - I think the posters just like to discuss it to death. But just to throw another thought out there - why doesn't anyone complain about having the state tourn games during the school day? I guess I know the answer - and I don't know of another way to have a 16 game tournament. But it is ridiculous to have an event for students that begins at 1:30 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. So why complain about 5:30 or 6:00 games during the week?

Where is it played at?

The time concessions are all part of the price of playing the 10th Region Tournament in Northern Kentucky at the BOKC Center. The published time for the 10th Region Championship game is Tuesday night, 3/10/09 at 6:30pm.

 

Playing at the BOKC has led to a lot of more complex issues than playing the tournament under simpler conditions at the Fieldhouse. However, much time and effort has been put forth in order to allow our athletes the chance to play in a potential Division I venue. Whether it proves to be worth it or not is yet to be seen. It was the 37th district's choice of where to host the tournament, and the brand new BOKC was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

 

This is not the first time that the 10th Region semis and finals have been played on Monday-Tuesday night. It is the first time that the championship game has been played at 6:30pm. In the recent past quarterfinals and semi-finals games have been played at 5pm at the Fieldhouse - tack on the 50 minute drive time from Maysville and the two timeframes are nearly identical.

 

If the BOKC goes one and out for the 10th, the organizers can at least say that they tried. Nothing is going to change at this time. It will be the first time in eons that I personally can see the entire 9th and the entire 10th Region tournaments play out first hand. Not everyone is in this situation.

 

The games will be played and the inititative will either be heralded or hated. Regardless, next year the 10th Region Tournament Prodigal Son will return home to the Mason County Fieldhouse, hopefully with a renewed appreciation for how wonderful a simple high school basketball tournament can be in a truly magnificent high school basketball environment.

I don't think any of the district winners want Brossart in regional game 1. So I can't see anyone saying Mason Co. got the best draw. If the tournament were seeded, I would have Brossart as the number 4 seed. I am sure GRC, Scott and Mason all wanted to draw into the same side of the bracket as Harrison Co., but if I told you you had to play the #4 seed in the first game is it worth it? I don't think so. I will say I think Scott has the toughest draw - #5 seed Deming in round 1, #1 GRC in round 2 and then probably Mason in the title game. That's a tough path to Rupp.

 

You would have Brossart and Deming over Harrison and Montgomery?

George Rogers Clark is looking to be firing on all cylinders right now, they are worlds better now it seems than when I saw them scrimmage Elliott County over the Thanksgiving weekend. I think they win the tenth, and could really make a run at the State title this year ala Holmes last season.

Looks like it will be a good region tournament with in my opinion Scott, Clark, and Mason all having very good chances at winning it. Mason got the worst first round draw possible but is away from Scott and Clark, so in the end it isn't too bad. The only bad thing is that we have to wait a whole week to see these matchups play out! Them dang girls!! lol

 

Wow now don't blame the girls. They are human too. I am more of a supporter of the girls so you just stepped on my toes. lol I may be wrong but I think I would rather they play it at the Fieldhouse than at Northern Ky. At least at Mason it was if you wanted a great seat then you had to get there early rather than the sponsers giving out the good seats to folks that may have seen 3 games during the season and all of the sudden since their team made it to the region they want good seats. Am I wrong for feeling that way?:confused:

No I totally agree with you! Although as a student I would think that there would be a students section.

Is the 10th going to have programs for sale at the BOK this weekend? Do they do this still in the 10th? It sure would be nice. :thumb:
