Good point on the bolded. However, only a 15 second clip of it was provided in this thread. No offense RTS (who posted the link), but it seems as if the only importance that is being placed is on the three words uttered by Matthews and not the 100s uttered by Jindal.

Well, in all fairness this thread wasn't about Jindal's message. It's about the hypocritical, biased Matthews.

On the bolded....I think that a really strong argument can be made that capitalism is dying off BECAUSE of capitalism. The unchecked greed of some companies have caused the series of events that have occurred. The government intervention can't be laid at the feet of just one party, and certainly not at Obama's feet alone.

 

I assume you mean the directive from JFK that said "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what YOU can do for your country." I think that the message was lost long ago before Obama, before Bush. And I don't think it has all to do with government, but more to the decaying morals of a society that has spent decades declining into the thought that the liberties of the individual supercede the liberties of the collective whole. Each and every American shares the blame for what we face today. It's not a liberal/conservative/democrat/republican/religious issue. It's an AMERICAN issue.

I agree that greedy tactics by some companies are a big part of our current economic situation. At the same time I believe that in a capitalist economy like the USA has, those companies will and should fail if capitalism is left alone. It's the bailing out and picking/choosing which company fails or succeeds by our government that will not allow capitalism to work correctly.
