Undefeated, I honestly feel like GC is the best team in the district, I think it will be between Boyd and Greenup. Rowan could be better this year also.

 

I love that attitude, should the players (all of them) feel that same way then that makes it all the better. All I can tell anyone, anywhere is one thing......if everyone on a team doesn't believe they can win then there is a pretty solid bet you will lose. Staying positve and confident is everything, bad attitudes and negativity will destroy a team.

How is everything going this week now that Team Camp is over?

Its going great, the boys have really bonded and a few leaders have stepped up. The middle school started last night with around 50 kids. So much for the people saying combing would hurt the numbers. I would bet in a couple of weeks we will be pushing 65 or 70.

I was probably the biggest critic, and I still believe what I said before. I am glad Greenup has good Jr High numbers, but I still believe that in the long run it will hurt the program.

 

Raceland has 57 Jr. High players right now, and I expect that number to increase to a little over 60, but we are comparing a 1A school and a 4A school.

 

I feel that Greenup should focus on having two teams and more players on each team. Raceland is, for the first time in a long time, have a dedicated 7th grade team, and a dedicated 8th grade team, normally both are combined. But, with this many kids we are having a full 7th grade schedule and a full 8th grade schedule. And if the number would ever be good enough, we would have two 7th grade teams and two 8th grade teams.

 

I wish you all luck with the Jr High program, but I still say 5-10 years from now, you will look back as say it was not such a good idea to make one team.

We will have a seperate 7th & a 8th grade team also...so should raceland split into 2 7th grade teams and 2 8th grade teams? Isnt it the same situiation?

I'm not saying don't fix it, really I'm not. And, it did need fixing. I may wrong, and this may be one of the best things to happen at Greenup County. But, I would have tried everything I could to increase the numbers on both teams first, then if I had to, I would have combined both teams.

We are very fortunate to have Coach Copley and his staff.

The boys leave for camp Feltner next Wednesday. We will be hosting Louisville Ballard starting tomorrow for five days. It will be a busy time, hope to see everyone out in support of the boys. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to serve or bring meals!

Very good post, you made a couple of very good points. GCHS fans need to get and stay behind your coach. By all the post on this thread he seems to be doing a very good job, I said earlier that I have not seen this kind of interest at GC in a very long time.
