It looks like the Rockets numbers are up this year there were about 50 young men out for the first week of practice. Freshmen do not start until monday, don't have any idea how many freshmen will show.

That is a good number without any freshmen.

Rock linemen looked big on TV last night.

The Rock line is not huge with the exception of Big Thacker, they are good sized 220 - 225 range, and Cole Abney might be the strongest player in the district, 430 on bench, 335 power clean and I think a 550 squat. The line should be pretty good and with Saylor and Rowe in the backfield, teams will have to concentrate on stopping the run, and that is when Bishop can hurt you.

Abney is a nice player but those numbers seem to be a stretch. He would be the strongest player on the UK roster this year.

Well those numbers are not a stretch, check with Coach Saylor & Coach Parkey. Coach Parkey is putting those numbers on his game DVD's for college coaches.

I don't think any numbers were spouted off, our boys did come in 2nd at the Lynn Camp competition. This is a Rock thread so I will not tread on their thread, I was just looking because I know they are at camp with Harlan County.

Abney goes both ways as do many of the Rockcastle starters.

Harlan is at camp with the Rockets, and they look huge. It was good to see Tom Larkey again, I consider him a friend and wish him the best of luck, wish Tom and Chris could play to a tie.

From what I've seen, Cole Abney is going to be the vocal leader as well as possibly the main leader of the team this year. All of the kids look up to him (including the backs) and he seems to be the spark plug that keeps them fired up. That showed at camp the last two nights. Cole's numbers that were reported on here, I'm pretty sure, are accurate. The kid's work ethic is off the chart when it comes to the weight room and the field. As I posted earlier in this thread, he will be leaving Rockcastle with most of the teams' weightlifting records in hand, including his brother's.

The teams at camp this year is are Rockcastle, Lynn Camp, Wayne County and Harlan County. Harlan had some big boys there and Lynn Camp had some huge kids there. I think one big cornfed boy would go 6'6" and 325lbs. for LC. (That's stand flat footed and crap in the back of a dump truck big.) They also had a freshman that is about 6' 4" and 300lbs or so.

The Rockets are going at it hard in practice, they are getting ready for a scrimmage 8/20/09 against Hazard. What will Hazard bring to the table, I don't know anything about them. Someone please enlighten me.
